The best leisurely lunch.

Glad we got the hotel to book us in for lunch here as the owner turned many people away whilst we were there. The food was beautifully fresh (we had sea bass) and we were very well looked after. We stayed a long time and didn't want to leave. If you visit Venice then take the 50 min ferry ride... read more

Was very much looking forward to having lunch here and was hoping/expecting it to be "the meal" of the holiday. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the whole experience. The service was inattentive, arrogant and at times we felt ignored. Some other people seemed to get more attention and better service than us. Our starter was interesting but tasteless and... More

The first thing we noticed was that our waiter was very arrogant, we placed our order with very little help from him, although he did seem to spend time explaining the menu and charming other diners who were bigger spenders, even though our bill was €114! We ordered a seafood starter for €20, was pretty tasteless and then a grilled... More

This is not the trap it would seem to be, but is still expensive. The food, thought, is aptly good. The seafood we had was great, serving catches from the Laguna di Venezia, including crabs, scallops and razor clams, cooked to perfection. Seafood risotto was also very good. And do not pass over the Tiramisu!

One of my favorite meals during a two week European vacation. Literally, a fisherman walked in to deliver the day's catch during our meal. You'll want to take your time and enjoy this magnificent place.

Excellent food, excellent service. Staff are lovely. The locals go here so that says it all. We stayed on Burano on a recent visit and it was lovely to leave the hustle and prices of St Marks Square and return to this superb restaurant in the evening.

When I am asked where to eat in Venice, I always say you cannot miss Gatto Nero. Inevitably, people ask if it is worth giving up a full day to get out to Burano.... I always tell them it is worth flying all the way from California for this one meal. Quite a few years ago, I wrote this webpage... More

I may have posted a review of another restaurant by a similar name but it was this restaurant that I went to. Simply put, the best Italian restaurant you will ever go to. Fresh seafood, sea bass, razor clams, soft shell crabs, etc. It is simple and rustic, but boy it should have three Michelin stars if they only knew... More

This is my favourite restaurant. Situated on the island of Burano, not many people visit or even know about this restaurant. Burano is a fishing village so you get freshly caught sea bass, soft shell crabs, razor clams etc. This is fresh well cooked simple food at its best. Don't be fooled by the lack of Michelin stars, they don't... More
