We had the most wonderful day on Burano while visiting Venice last November. Beautiful sunshine, crispy fresh, light cool breeze. Walked all around, visited lace workshop, bought some beautiful gifts...culminating in the best late lunch ever at Al Gatto Nero. Perfect fresh seafood lightly cooked, delicious, well-presented. My 10-year old son loved everything, including the soup, and you wouldn't call... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant quite serendipitously, as we were walking through the charming and scenic town of Burano. What good fortune! This restaurant is excellent, and we were lucky enough that they could take us in for lunch. The restaurant is covered with artwork that is part of the personal collection of the current owner, Ruggero Bovo. I say... More

The Gatto Nero was recommended by our hotel, who booked us a table. As it was a Saturday, we were told it would get very busy over lunch time. Beautifully presented and expertly cooked, the food was delicious and we could understand why this lovely restaurant was so popular. If you enjoy seafood, don't miss this delightful restaurant on the... More

I was told about this restraunt in Burano Venice. It took some getting to but it was worth every second. The highest quality fish is served and is as fresh as possible, the fish that is cooked daily is caught every morning. The risotto is to die for, they are known for their seafood risotto and they do not disappoint.... More

This unassuming restaurant on the small island of Burano (35 minutes from Venice by boat) is Tops in all of Italy! First of all, about 80 percent of the entire island are fisherman and in the morning they have an impressive fresh fish market which sells out by afternoon, Our group ordered oysters, scallops, clams, prawns, calamari and local fish... Visited the small colourful island of Buranao. We had read that this restaurant was worth a visit so we youths we must go and see what it's like. To start with the waiters were very friendly and welcoming, they recommended some dishes to try and they were very professional. The food was delicious!!! The sea bream was served and deboned... I can only laugh at people who write bad reviews for this place. Massi and his team are attentive, humorous and made our day at Burano thoroughly enjoyable. The degustation entre was superb, some of which I would never normally eat (anchovies!) but still devoured. Juicy Scampi the size of small horses and beautiful Italian sparkling. Scallops and Mussels then... More

My lunchtime plans in the city suddenly changed, so I trundled over to Burano to join some friends at Al Gatto Nero, with no idea what to expect. Burano looks a bit like Murano without the glass studios: very cute. This is a proper destination restaurant, set on a canal full of brightly-painted houses (looks a bit like Hillgate Village...
