Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? Well I guess any Doctor would tell you that it is but frankly with food this good I'd just like it to keep coming. A superb and surprising (there's no set menu) lunch of several courses all created from fabulous local produce and assembled with love and care by... More

One of a few eating places here in Zaros on the main street. Great after a day's gorge walking at the local Rouvas Gorge - not for the faint hearted. This is advertised as an organic restaurant and we had the impression, perhaps from the name that it was vegetarian, but no there was lots if meat available. You can... More

Definitely overrated. The staff were lovely and the ethos is great. However, the food was more like home-cooking than the restaurant quality tavernas at Eleonas and Limni.

There are a handful of days that stand out in your mind and have a special place in your heart. The day we went from Stalis to Matala and then back to Zaros is one that will live long in my memory. The scenery was great, the swimming was great, the weather was great but they all pale into insignificance,... More

We didn't know what to expect. It looked nice, and we had seen no other vegetarian restaurants at Crete. We set ourselves to have lunch, and without many words were served one great surprise after another. And all at a reasonable price.

Very nice ladies, great food (they just bring it when you sit down). Definitely worth a visit. Many small dishes, wine and water, soup, desert included for just 12 euro per person!

The first evening we wanted to eat at Vegera we arrived just before eight, and the placewas already full, so the next evening we arrived at seven, to be the first guests of the evening. There is no menu, and when I asked (I speak Greek) what we would get, the lady answered 'just wait and see, you'll get a... More

Farm fresh food, no freezer, no microwave. The family owns the farm that the food comes from. There is no menu - you eat what you get which is delicious, fresh and healthy. Feels like home and the owner and her family are a delight.

We visited this place every evening of our stay in Zaros. The first day we didn't know about the system and were surprised about the variety and most of all the superb taste of all the dishes. The second day we were all day long, through our hike trough the Rouvas gorge, thinking about what great dinner was waiting for... More
