Firstly, Sarah and Mark Dobson very kindly accepted a voucher I was gifted which had reached expiration embarrassingly! I dined at lunch as a party of four, with my partner and "in-laws" for their birthday treat, what a treat it was! Fabulous Devon olde-worlde charm but with refinery. a relaxed but impeccably professional and charming service welcomed us. We opted... More

And it really is in the "countryside"! with the lane leading to it being decidedly single track !!! But don't be put off, the trip is well worth the effort and you are also on the edge of beautiful Exmoor. The chef was at The Waterside Inn and it really shows both in the style of cooking and presentation of... More

In truth North Devon is a bit of a food backwater. There are a few pockets of greatness but few and far between. This however is worthy of all its accolades. Not exactly pub grub and perhaps not the fine dinning of the London elite, but very high quality ingredients, great cooking and excellent service make this worth pushing the... More

visited at lunch time with friends, and dog, dog welcome in the bar. Very warm and cosy, friendly staff. Food excellent, pre drink nibbles etc served. Starters of scallops, ginger smoked salmon and pigeon terrine all quite excellent, main course of black pudding stuffed pork belly was succulent, tender and full of flavour. Desserts equally delicious added to that a... More

Recently had lunch here with my husband, we have been before. It is a very relaxed place for lunch with a mixture of people obviously there for a special occasion, and others in jeans ready to go for a walk afterwards. All seemed to be enjoying themselves. The food was delicious, I had scallops (always my favourite), followed by the... More

Went here for lunch for birthday treat. Lovely atmosphere and the food lived up to expectations. My husband had the hare which we had never tried before it was delicious. Lovely devon views from the restaurant . Good service just the right amount of time between courses. What we were really pleased with was that they didn't try to rip... More

lived up to all our expectations! On a very stormy night we found The Masons's Arms warm and welcoming even though we were a little late due to appalling driving conditions. Lovely little dinning room ( very interesting ceiling), all the right touches of detail and we quickly ordered from the interesting menu. Started with the special smoked salmon and... More

we have ben to this restaurant some time ago and decided as we have recently moved into the area to go on for a family birthday . The service food and style are lovely. The food deserves its Michelin star alone perfectly cooked and well presented . One of our party was a vegetarian and the chef had gone to... More

While travelling across Exmoor we decided to find a pub for a quick pie and a pint. We saw a small sign by the side of the road pointing to the right saying The Mason's Arms, so we followed it. In less than two mile we found a lovely, very old, thatched restaurant (even the loung floor sloped) and had... More

From the moment we walked through the front door to the smell of a log fire to the moment we left our experience at the Mason's Arms was what can only be described as fantastic!!! The service from the staff including the chefs wife and two young daughters was impeccable. Attentive but not intrusive. The food and wine were faultless... More
