Fabulous Food

We've been lucky enough to sample many good restaurants including London and in our home county of Devon and this has got to be a highlight. Fantastic food, wonderful service but unlike London, unpretentious. We had the most wonderful time and I would recommend everyone try it. It is in the... read more

We've been lucky enough to sample many good restaurants including London and in our home county of Devon and this has got to be a highlight. Fantastic food, wonderful service but unlike London, unpretentious. We had the most wonderful time and I would recommend everyone try it. It is in the country so if you don't like the smell of... Having lived in North Devon for 13 years my wife took me to The Masons Arms today for a birthday lunch. This was my first visit. Over 13 years of eating out in North Devon this is probably to best meal my wife and I have experienced. Service, presentation, and food quality were beyond expectation. The layers of flavours -... Lunch at the Masons Arms was decidedly average. The presentation was amazing- but the food mostly bland and defiantly nothing special. There were a few nice touches- homemade rolls on the table, and nice sweets to accompany coffee and the service was fine. Their vegetarian options were lack lustre to say the least- a Roasted vegetable salad to start which... More

I've been to the Masons Arms several times and never been disappointed. Mark and his team always provide beautifully prepared food that's a delight to eat. Lunch is £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses. Everything is made 'in house' from the bread rolls to the petit fours with the coffee and the ingredients are nearly all locally... More

We returned for the masterclass on stocks and sauces, which is followed by lunch in the restaurant giving an opportunity to taste the sauces with the appropriate food. It was informative and interesting and the food as excellent as always. The owner/head chef was the head chef at three * Waterside at Bray for 12 years and the excellence of... More

I went here with my mother for lunch and we were very impressed by the hospitality we received; having had the restaurant on our "to-do" list for far too long. Mid-week, lunch time in the middle of January- it was unsurprising that we were the only diners- although I know this is certainly not the case at almost any other... More

Rang and asked to be squeezed in for starters and mains early on a Saturday evening. Turned up and we were treated superbly. Great staff and worth putting a clean shirt on for! Great food , presented well and tastes beautiful. Worth that bit extra. Menu is on the web so don't complain about the prices. I looked at a... More

Firstly, Sarah and Mark Dobson very kindly accepted a voucher I was gifted which had reached expiration embarrassingly! I dined at lunch as a party of four, with my partner and "in-laws" for their birthday treat, what a treat it was! Fabulous Devon olde-worlde charm but with refinery. a relaxed but impeccably professional and charming service welcomed us. We opted... More

And it really is in the "countryside"! with the lane leading to it being decidedly single track !!! But don't be put off, the trip is well worth the effort and you are also on the edge of beautiful Exmoor. The chef was at The Waterside Inn and it really shows both in the style of cooking and presentation of... More

In truth North Devon is a bit of a food backwater. There are a few pockets of greatness but few and far between. This however is worthy of all its accolades. Not exactly pub grub and perhaps not the fine dinning of the London elite, but very high quality ingredients, great cooking and excellent service make this worth pushing the... More
