Here at The Galley Topsham we want to impress you with 'the best of Devon on a plate'. We are passionate about serving you the freshest fish and seafood, simply and stylishly presented, together with exciting meat and vegetarian options sourced from local farms so we think we have something for everybody. We have a daily changing menu which means we only serve what is in season and locally available, so you can be sure that what you are eating is of the best quality. Our a la carte menu is available at lunch and dinner. At lunch we offer a special menu of two courses for £16. So whether it's a long lingering dinner, a light lunch or a business engagement we have something to suit you. We love wine and have worked hard to create a balanced wine list that includes top favourites along with some interesting options you may not be so familiar with. We are very happy to recommend a wine to go with any of our dishes so please do ask. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed and friendly. We have no dress code and we warmly welcome families with children. Great food is nothing without great service however and we put a huge emphasis on matching the service to your needs. Nigel is on hand front of house to greet you with a friendly smile and make sure you relax and enjoy your meal. With our unique location on Topsham Quay and fabulous views over the River Exe you can soak up the atmosphere of this ancient sea port from the comfort of our two dining rooms.

We came back to enjoy another fine dining experience at this lovely restaurant. We last visited in October 2014 and the service and food didn't disappoint. We were spoilt for choice with the menu options available but chose from the set menu which is priced at £22 which offered a selection of four items per course. The restaurant has retained... More

I decided to come here while I was in Exeter for the day as Topsham has a reputation for being the best place for food in the area. As several different sources recommended this place, I decided to pick this one over the rest of the competition. Things got off to a fantastic start here as the squid dish I... More

Visited with parents, the front of house team certainly know how to provide good service and the dishes were well executed. We ate a la carte, but the set menu looked amazing value for money!

My friend and I drove a long way to meet up for lunch at this restaurant. We had never been and were delighted at the ambiance and location...very nice. We ordered from the set lunch menu...the starter (Squid) was very good with an excellent fresh salsa. We both ordered Prosecco Battered Plaice and Chips and that is were it all... More

Staying in Exeter for the weekend, we booked into The Galley in Topsham for Friday evening. The restaurant is right by the quayside just behind the Lighter Inn (which is good for a pre-dinner snifter!). Its a cosy place with a warm ambience and cottage style decor. We received a very friendly welcome from Nigel at front of house and... More

We had not tried this restauarant on our previous visists to Topsham, dont know why as it is really fab. The food was really wonderful, the service excellent and we were so surprised to have such wonderful unusual flavours. We would highly reccomend this restaurant. When the lovely french restaularant closed in Topsham we didnt think it could be beaten... More

After build up on TA I was expecting a lot, as a dedicated foodie, I was looking forward to the meal. The restaurant is quite small but not unpleasant, the seating uncomfortable and rough on uncovered legs (apparently). The starter of scallops was executed well and looked good, but tasteless! Unfortunately this trend continued with my Brill and desert. Even... More

Took my Fiance here for her birthday and wow. This was seriously good. The food was exquisite and the Peroni was very cold! What I loved was the fact that the second I finished my beer, the staff gave me a discreet nod (Did I want another) My Mrs didn't have a clue which meant she couldn't say no! I... More

I went for a day in Topsham with my mother, as she was visiting me at university. We hadn't made any plans for lunch and decided to follow our noses. We came upon The Galley and decided to take a gamble, having read through a very promising menu outside, hoping we'd be able to find a table! Despite being very... More

We came here for lunch after getting married (it was a very small wedding, only 8 of us), and couldn't have picked a better place. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, and our table had a lovely view of the quay. We also very much enjoyed the local fizzy wine!
