Good plain food, kitsch 70s decor and a quirky proprietoress

Popped in for lunch after a drive over the Col de Jau and had a table overlooking the river with herbs lining the windowsill. We had two salads which were decent value for money and tasty. Desserts were disappointing - the fruit sorbet had a rather chemical tang and the nut cake was a bit... read more

If you want a night off from rich restaurant dishes or just like plain home cooking this is the place for you.Surroundings are plain but service prompt and friendly. Also had a table overlooking the river. Bonus for wine lovers is that the patron takes you to the front of the establishment and helps one choose, in our case a great... More

Being a vegetarian in France can be difficult however not here our hosts could not have been more accommodating and prepared a vegetarian meal especially for me. The house wine was also very good. Overall great value for money with great views of the mountains and the river.

Were recommended to eat here from host of chambre d'hote where we were staying. Decor a bit average, but maitre d' quite helpful - food was tasty, well-cooked & well presented. Felt a bit like the place in a bit of a time warp, but we were in a small village in rural France, so perhaps to be expected.

The lunch services were good and restaurant was well located, on the river! Manager had very good knowledge of local wines and excellent recommendations.

Good food at a good price, served to the sound of the river. The Fricassé d'Axat with pork, ham, tomatos and olives was very nice.

A strange slightly dark interior but the food was good and we all enjoyed ourselves. Wine of house was very enjoyable and patron friendly.

We really enjoyed our meal here and highly recommend the house special!! It was a pork dish with Jambon, olives and peppers. The duck was fab too!

Dining is in two large, rather plain, rooms one of which overlooks the river. Service was good and the food was OK but not exceptional.

After having booked a table (recommended), we had a lovely dinner with a view overlooking the river Aude. The trout and fricassee d'Axat are particularly tasty.
