Yes it is Good Pub Grub

And that is their proud boast outside but we needed to check for ourselves. We only wanted a relatively quick and simple meal, not too much, as we had a long drive ahead of us and had made no Saturday night restaurant reservations; so The Bull suited us fine. The Bull at Theale is conveniently located close to M4J12: it is easy to find and there is some parking. For us this was a good location to meet for a family lunch on Sunday. It has a children’s menu, so is “family friendly” and has a menu on line, enabling us to pre-order – important if you have youngsters... More

Lovely fresh food and nice sandwich menu. Regarding the previous review i only feel it is fair to mention that the gentleman had actually requested Jeremy Kyle be shown on the television with volume! When the owner arrived into the pub he turned the volume off and put background music on to which the gentleman became quite abusive. The owner... More

Enjoying a late afternoon lunch at this lovely pub with my 77 year old mother when landlord barged in angry - provoked by the TV channel we'd asked the friendly barmaid to turn to because we didn't want to watch sports. As the only two customers in the bar, it wasn't deemed an issue until the disgruntled landlord arrived. Mother... More

Average food, nothing special, priced a bit higher than it should be with regards to quality and quantity. I was disappointed with what I ordered, as it didn't live up to my expectations that the menu and presentation promised (my sandwich was a few small bits of raw halloumi cheese with raw onion and peppers, bread wasn't focaccia as I've... I visit The Bull quite often, whether it be a business lunch or just an evening out with the family. Each time I have been in I have been greeted by a member of staff with a smile which makes me feel very welcome. Today I went in for Lunch with a colleague, I had the Veg Special & my... More

Visited here with small children and friends as we were passing through. The food, service, ambience were all average. Typical pub grub. Burgers, roasts etc nothing remarkable but equally nothing offensive. Value was ok - £10 a burger. They allow dogs in the restaurant which puts me off and it doesn't feel like a family friendly pub.

Was really good, waitress was fantastic. Food disappointing. Served uncooked chicken. Pub itself could be cleaner. Specials menu was wrong and was not corrected, heard other tables order a dish and when received was told "we need to change the details on the board" Just disappointed really.

It's a very nice pub with plenty of a space inside and outside. They serve variety of beers and asle, excellent and authentic food, very friendly staff and the pub is suitable for families and friends

A group of five of us visited the bull on a recommendation for lunch. On arrival the pub was very busy and we were advised of a wait time. We decided to wait and was glad we did! The food was clearly fresh and we all enjoyed it very much. The staff were friendly and it was a good atmosphere.... More
