Delicious duck confit

We stumbled upon this restaurant that offers gram ambience and delicious food. We especially enjoyed the preserved duck leg confit. Amazing dish! The hearty french onion soup was also nice but to the saltier side. Our waiter Raphael gave such an excellent service that I could nominate him for the... read more

We stopped in for hot chocolate one very cold afternoon and liked the place so much we booked in for supper the next night. Onion soup, duck rilletes, warm brie and mushroom stew pastry were excellent and hearty appetizers. Fish and chips and pasta were also great. Limited kid's menu but were very accommodating in splitting larger portions for the... More

Upon our third vacation to the Old Quebec City, we checked TripAdvisor to try other restaurants. Days prior to our departure, I made reservations for dinner at this place. This restaurant is located in the lower part of town very close to Chateau Frontenac very near to the base of the funicular or stairs off of Rue du Petit Champlain.... More

A toasty warm haven on a cold day! Lunch was delicious - I had the Elk burger which was quite good. The server was warm and friendly but also did not rush us. Ours was a late lunch around 2 pm but there seemed to be a steady stream of diners and this cozy little café stayed full while we... More

Small, tight quarters. Fabulously friendly staff. It was cold. This place was a great find. Hot delicious onion soup. Maybe the best I've had. cheese and meat plate. Unique. Fresh. Varied. Not the typical mix.

On a cold, snowy evening it is hard to imagine a warmer or more cozy atmosphere! The food was superb, from the appetizers to dessert. The maple syrup bread pudding alone is worth the stop!

Was there for dinner on January 2 with my wife and two kids. Really attentive, friendly and just first class service. We spoke only English. Great recommendations on food and wine. Waiter really knew his stuff. Food and drinks worked well together. Great ambiance, working fireplace was nice but it got a bit too hot for me. Will definitely return... More

On a cold, stormy day we visited the Bistro Sous le Fort for a Sunday lunch. We were welcomed with Quebec hospitality at its best! It is a small (10 tables) bistro with a real fire burning, old stone walls, and modern furnishings, but don't focus on the ambience: the food is wonderful. One of us had the torte filled with... This incredibly well-located bistro, right off the Funiculaire in lower Quebec, is notable not only for the food -- we made a wonderful lunch of their Assiette Plaisir -- but especially for the staff. Wait staff in Quebec are almost uniformly amusing and helpful, but these two went above and beyond. We will go back!

We dropped in for French onion soup on a winter day. The staff was very helpful. The cheese on the soup was burnt a little. I'd recommend it, but it is not worth the hype.
