This place is great!

My wife, son, and I were staying in old Quebec. We were strolling through the streets of the lower section and happened on this restaurant. With the help of the staff we chose 2 delicious dishes including a mahi mahi special and bouillabaisse. Choosing from a price fixed menu, we enjoyed foie gras, mixed green salads, and a cheese dessert.... More

Bar none, probably best meal we had in Quebec City. We seriously felt like we were in France. We went in for a light lunch and thought we had died and gone to heaven. Wait staff was attentive and genuine; setting so romantic, and food delish. We stared with soups--onion and pea-- and then simple but fresh ingredient filled house... More

Despite the staff not speaking English and my French being poor we managed very well. The set menu is good value and there is a nice wine list. We had the Duck and lamb which was perfect. My only complaint was the salad was very cold and the desert was half frozen - however if you waited a few minutes... More

My husband and I were looking for a nice French restaurant..after all, we were in Quebec City. We read reviews of many places and settled upon Mistral Gagnant. I called ahead and spoke with Bernard who was so charming! When we arrived, he made us feel like friends. The menu was not overwhelming, which I prefer, plus Bernard will explain... More

On our third night in Quebec we finally found a restaurant that exceeded our expectations. We went for the table d'hôtel at The Mistral Gagnant. My husband had the rack of lamb and I had the duck breast. They were both beautifully cooked and deliciously tasty. The starters and soup were generous as was the desert and coffee. It was... More

This restaurant had me on Leg`s Duck. It was cooked to perfection. The family members ordered their own thing and we tasted each of our orders. All tasty! The restaurant is cozy, the server and cashier is friendly. I will come back for the leg`s duck.

My wife and I prefer simpler Provençal cuisine to the often fussy French cuisine available in most restaurants, and Mistral fit the bill. We both had Caesar salads and chicken breast with goat cheese and they were well prepared and served with vegetables and potato. Service was by the owner and was warm and welcoming.

Nicely decorated restaurant that serves Provence-style food. The service was good, attentive, and quite ready to accommodate specific requests. The selection of wines by the glass is very limited, although those proposed were of very good quality. My friend and I ordered cheese to end our meal and, albeit an
