This was a tough call because I had a terrific bouillebaisse that was part of a good and reasonable fixed price dinner. But my wife's duck was so unpardonably terrible - really like shoe leather - that it ruined the meal and the review. The moral is, still to the Provencal menu.

I am from France and i can assure you this is as close you can get to my home country cuisine. Thank you Bernard for your warm welcome and thanks for introducing a few Quebec delicacies as your Tarte au Sucre and a few local products. I shall return for sure...a 3 time before we leave!

My husband and enjoyed an odd meal at Mistral while visiting Quebec City. The exterior sports a very Provencal type atmosphere, cute, lavender, yellow tablecloths with olives, hanging herbs, but the interior is more diner-ish. The chair seats were absolutely filthy, but once you are seated, well, you can forget about it. It took ten minutes for the wait staff... More

The Mistral Gagnant is a little out of the way on Rue St. Paul but well worth a visit, which we do on every trip to Quebec City. The food, service and wine list are all good to very good. This time I had bouillabaisse and my wife steak. I didn't have any problem with the bouillabaisse, unlike another customer.... More

We discovered this restaurant by wandering. It was much quieter than other places although it was a late lunch. Had the lunch menu which included an appetizer. The gazpacho soup was delicious. Also had a nice omelet which came with mashed potatoes and carrots. For dessert, the creme brulet was also delicious. Nice find during a busy festival in the... More

Four of us had a meal and we were all disappointed. The service was slow and lacked warmth, the meals were lukewarm, and there was little that was Provençal. The tablecloth (plastic) was dirty, plates were cracked and chipped, and the cutlery was not clean. The food was without taste. Too many other good places in Quebec City to eat... More

and family owned and operated ( according to out hotel concierge). We tried it on their recommendation and are glad we did. Service was professional and the atmosphere quite authentic, right down to the quirky little hankies over the light fixtures. The presentation was lovely but un- fussy. We started with escargot in a light pastry, good but not unusually... More

The appetizer was delicious and the venue was tastefully done but everything else was a horrible disappointment. I ordered bouillabaise, which at $40 is one of the most expensive items on the menu. It had been recommended in a tour book, but the best that can be said for it is that it was full of protein. Flavour was almost... More

We ate here for lunch. The host/owner who waited on us was very pleasant. We had: chicken with goat cheese and sliced tenderloin with mushrooms (which came with a wonderful vegetable soup). Both meals came with scalloped potatoes which were great. We enjoyed the food, the quiet atmosphere, the leisurely pacing of the meal (not too slow, though, but certainly... More

The owner came from Toulouse 39 years ago and has brought with him the kind of place I look for when in France. A nice simple local restaurant with reasonably priced set menus. Many nearby places are packed with tourists, but this is a little apart and everyone else there on our visit was local. I like to feel that... More
