We came here very tired after walking around Quebec and they were so welcoming and friendly. The menu was perfect--I can recommend the escargot and lamb in particular, but my family were also very happy. The wine (not terribly expensive) that we had chosen was not available, but the proprietor steered us to another in the same range that was... More

We found the restaurant while wandering around QC, trying to escape the crowds. We were attracted by the charming decor, and were the first guests of the evening. The host was very welcoming, and we had an excellent yet simple dinner from the table d'hôte menu. It was a first class meal in very relaxing and pleasant surroundings, and I'll... More

Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere of Provance! The owner is so nice. Service great. We all had the Table of the Day and were very pleased. As is the French tradition, the meal took 3 hours which was great to share time and stories with our friends!

I'm a demanding customer….expect to be wowed with superior food when going to a restaurant. Otherwise…why bother? Mistral Gagnant proved to be above my expectations. Everything was VERY good, but the Bouillabaisse was the BEST EVER. And I know what's good, having lived in the sour of France for 2 summers. This one was even better than there! Just wished... More

On our first night in Québec, we enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at Mistral Gagnant. The menu offers a nice variety of classic French dishes. We ordered from the table d'hote pages, which includes a complete meal for C$35 to C$40. Though not mentioned in the wine list, the house wines by the glass were very nice and quite reasonably... This little gem is just out of the tourist line-ups, but had better food than some of the higher-rated restaurants we went to just around the corner. The bouillabaisse was excellent and the service just attentive enough. Walk the extra block and go here.

I havent been to the south coast of France since i was 20 odd but 27 years later i was transported back again by a truly magnificent bouillabaisse and the charming and jovial owners. The dated interior adds to the charm so don't let that guide your decision to go. Highly recommended.

This charming restaurant could be in Provence. We had a window seat overlooking a quiet city street. The wine and bread were authentic and the bouillabaisse was hearty and flavorful. The prices are somewhat high but that's par in this part of the city. We would definitely return.

This was a tough call because I had a terrific bouillebaisse that was part of a good and reasonable fixed price dinner. But my wife's duck was so unpardonably terrible - really like shoe leather - that it ruined the meal and the review. The moral is, still to the Provencal menu.

I am from France and i can assure you this is as close you can get to my home country cuisine. Thank you Bernard for your warm welcome and thanks for introducing a few Quebec delicacies as your Tarte au Sucre and a few local products. I shall return for sure...a 3 time before we leave!
