Description: La Crémaillère fête ses 40 ans.

Their website is representative of what you'll see when you go eat there, so I won't duplicate here. Its history is fascinating, and tied to several other landmark restaurants in the Old Quebec. It is worth a look. La Cremaillere was once located on St-Jean street. Back then it was more of an average tourist place. But no more! It... More

Over the last 30+ years we have eaten in over 50 different Quebec restaurants - can't believe we hadn't tried the Cremaillere sooner, as it is easily one of our top 3-4 favorites now. the entrance in an old house has a lovely curved staircase, and décor is quiet and relaxed. We found the service attentive and professional - among... More

A must. Not the cheapest, certainly on of the finest - if not the finest! If you like rwa meet, beef tartar there is something you don't want to miss. Veal and quail are wonderful there as well.

We had a very nice dinner for 5 New Years Eve. The food and the presentation were wonderful and the staff was very friendly. It was festively decorated for the evening. The service was timely, especially given that they were booked to the gills. They didn't rush to turn over the table and we had a perfectly enjoyable dinner with... More

We could not find any spot for New Year's Eve dining except for this restaurant. The atmosphere was pretentious and the food was mediocre compared to good restaurants in Quebec. My hasband and me ordered escargots for appetizer and we were surprised when snails were served with thick and tastless pasta shells. For entrees I ordered veal chop and hearb... More

Although we ate in some terrific restaurants during our stay in Quebec City, we rated Restaurant La Cremaillere the best - the epitome of fine dinning without the usual pretentiousness. Everything we ordered was delicious – the fisherman's soup, the herb-crusted salmon, the duck breast with blackcurrant and blueberry sauce, and the crème brulee for dessert. We also give them... This was a packaged restaurant with our hotel. We were happy to have picked this restaurant. A bit expensive but it had great service and great taste.

The restaurant is adjacent to a hotel, but on the night we went it was pretty empty. We were seated in a smaller area with less tables, but they did have a room with many tables to hold a large crowd. The food was wonderful, but the service was phenomenal. True we were only 3 tables, however our server, an... More

The staff are extremely friendly and add enjoyment to the meal. The service is extremely good and they made perfect recommendations for the wines to go with the meals. All the appetizers, main courses and deserts were very good. The daily soup and duck were outstanding. They have a fixed price menu that includes three courses. These are the same... More

Located in the old city, this restaurant is from all the reviews one of the best in Quebec city for food. Situated in a town house, there were tables set in various rooms, not crowded in the least, and exuding old world charm. It is quiet, casually formal (not a oxymoron), nice table settings, decent artwork in the walls. The... More
