We visited St Malo in mid-March, 2014, Saturday night dinner. We had reservations, and that was good, as many others were turned away at the door. We've visited Quebec yearly or more often for the past 15 years, always eating at a good restaurant at least once during our visit. We've hit many of the top ones, Saint-Amour, Le Patriarche,... We chose Cafe St-Malo for our first dinner in Old Quebec. The atmosphere was very relaxed, comfortable. Our server worked the dining room on his own and was completely in control. Service was seamless, the food, which was traditional French, was excellent. A great experience for the start of our vacation.

We had just arrived in Quebec and stumbled upon this place on a Sunday night. Open fire, good menu and friendly staff encouraged us to stay. Our food was amazing! Great portions of well cooked, quality food. They made simple leeks taste great, and the house special of blood sausage can be recommended. The staff were helpful from the front... More

Very cosy little restaurant with a fireplace. The seafood stew was excellent - loaded with fish and shellfish in a good strong broth with a subtle hint of fennel and saffron. My husband had the duck confit and enjoyed it very much. Cider by the litre was the perfect accompaniment. The cheese board was the only mild disappointment since all... More

On our last night of our Quebec city trip, we made a reservation at this restaurant. My partner ordered the French onion soup and for entree, the mussels with fries. I ordered the duck confit with the soup, dessert and tea add-on, which I chose the fish soup with the strawberry cake. Delicious all the way through! The best French... More

We had our dinner hear on our last trip up to Quebec city because we really wanted to find somewhere that seemed more local and had traditional food. At a reasonable price of course! We found all of that here, and the best french onion soup ever. I could have had just that for dinner as it was so big... More

We were in Old Quebec and had a great meal the previous evening, but wanted to go to a smaller, family owned, authentic Quebec fare restaurant , one that wasn't pretentious....... My date also wanted to have Escargot. So he researched and this fit the bill, we walked over to check it out and loved the place upon first site.... More

I wanted to try escargot in Quebec city but ended up getting a lot more! It was amazing and the service was terrific. The ambiance is very homey and cozy. I also ordered the casseloe(casserole), which came with sausage, duck confit and lamb. Talk about comfort food extraordinaire . The rabbit ordered by my date was absolutely magnifique. She was... The tables were a little cramped ... but the food was worth it. Grilled blood sausage and cassoulet. My wife had a leek vinaigrette salad and steak frites. A very nice (and affordable) bottle of Rasteau Cote du Rhone. I just love it when I am well fed! Service was a tad slow to get started (a busy friday night... More
