Superb!

This is just my kind of restaurant. My wife and I found the place quite by accident last December, and our lunch was one of our best experiences in Quebec. Starters of home-made grilled boudin noir and terrine maison were delicious, and the main courses of veal sweetbreads with wild mushrooms (for... read more

This quaint restaurant is in the middle of a touristy street with tons of other restaurants in the lower town of Quebec City. If you prefer something more authentic, this is not the area to go for dinner. First impression of the restaurant - great! The waitress was kind enough to let us in 10-15 minutest before they opened (at... More

It was raining lightly when we ducked into Cafe St Malo. We chose a table next to an open window in the upstairs quaint dining room. (The first floor dining room is livelier.)The service was good and the food excellent. It started to pour so we ordered another glass of wine and lingered. It was like a scene out of... More

We ate at this small bistro our last evening in Quebec and it was among our best meals. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Despite what was written in other reviews, the service we experienced the evening we were there was outstanding. The food was excellent. The frites are a must. Salmon was well-prepared and extremely good. Would highly... More

I remembered the wonderful dinner I had here with my oldest daughter a couple years ago, so I brought our other daughter here for lunch during our brief visit to Quebec City. We arrived after the rush and enjoyed the pleasant day at an outside table. There was only one server for the few diners so it was a bit... More

We ate here twice for dinner as the food was very good and the ambience charming and relaxed. There was always a line outside with people wanting to get in. Reservation helpful.

We were attracted to the restaurant by the straight forward menu that offered a good choice of French dishes. Our daughter had the mussels, my wife had the steak frites and I had the Bouillbasse. All the food was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. The service was outstanding, we'd asked for no chives or spring onion on the mussel... More

A truly superb meal with great ambiance in a fabulous location. If you're looking for a truly French-Canadian dining experience, Cafe St-Malo is the place to go. A dinner for two with appetizers, multiple drinks, and entres was under $90, which was an excellent price given the quality of the food. I came here after a recommendation from a family... More

We were extremely disappointed in our dinner here, especially after it was recommended by our concierge. We sat on the terrace, which was not as picturesque as others we enjoyed in Old Quebec. Things started well when our personable server took our dinner orders and went downhill from there. We literally never saw him again until he brought us the... More

The concierge at our hotel, the St. Antoine, recommended this authentic French restaurant and we really enjoyed it. It's a fun, lively spot with in and outdoor seating. We had a table at the open window inside but still felt like we were outside and could watch people parade by. The staff is very friendly and did not rush us... More
