A great find

The trick of eating in Quebec City is to find the balance between the commodity 'steak and frites' tourist traps of the upper old city, on one end, and the expensive (although great) higher end places such as Panache, on the other; or even something more toned-down than the good but industrial, high flow-through Cafe Du Monde. Great, fresh food. Place was small but quite intimate and service was great. Waiter was attentive even though she was by herself doing everything.

When we first arrived, we walked past the restaurant, looked at the menu, and said that this was a possible choice one night. At breakfast, we talked to a couple, one being celiac, that had eaten here and our decision was made. My wife is celiac so she has to be very careful. We in fact ate here two nights... More

We had a wonderful dinner at Bistro Du cap on our visit to Quebec City. I had a great lamb shank and my wife truly enjoyed the special fish of the evening. While our food was itself superb, the intimate, friendly atmosphere made this a great dining event. Such nice people that made one feel like a guest in their... More

After a morning of gallery hopping in the old city the rains moved in and we serendipitously found ourselves standing in front of Cafe Bistro du Cap reading the enthusiastic New York Times review that was posted in the window. We went in and were fortunate to be seated at the only open table. The space is tiny but is... More

We were visiting the beautiful city of Quebec on a cruise. We had to try some local cuisine other than fast food. We hit on Cafe Bistro Du Cap and how fortunate was this. My wife and I enjoyed a most pleasant 2 hours in the restaurant and had a meal to compare with any we have had anywhere. The... More

Very small room with tables so close it limits personal conversations but food was top rate and overall noise level was not a problem.

Coming off a cruise ship we wanted an authentic simple French meal and we could not have been more pleased. This tiny spot has excellent food, great French wine selections and friendly service.

My husband, one year old daughter, and I sat outside this great little bistro for a perfect lunch on a perfect fall day. We had the most amazing soup and sandwich. We tried to go back for dinner but the restaurant was basically full and there wasn't room for a high chair or our stroller.

This is a great eating establishment if you like exceptional food and service in a more casual atmosphere. The room is cosy with all the ambience of the Old Port. The menu is small and our meals were delicious. We were guided to a terrific wine and were not rushed. I would travel to Quebec City again just for the... More
