nice historic place for diner-bistro experience

This is in the heart of the traditional Quebecois area of Montreal, where youthful and artistic nationalism were at home. I went there with two friends for an evening meal. Although I very much enjoyed my salmon, my friends felt their meal was a bit overpriced. The ambience is nice, the location is good if you are in the St Denis area. But it was not really a "memorable" dining experience.

No doubt this is a nice cafe that was just great on a Sunny Sunday ....That being said the Girl that welcomed us was simply not in the right job .... She had one of those attitude that simply does not match the restaurant ... The service was slow... (which is guess on a Sunny Sunday can be OK) ...... More

Very much a bistro atmosphere. Great and diverse menu. I had the duck breast with a three Pepper sauce. The vegetables were perfectly done as was the duck. The fish soup was rich and dark. It may be a little fishy for some people, but to me it was perfect. The Caesar salad had bacon in it which might be... More

After a leisurely walk along Rue St. Denis, we stopped at this popular local French bistro for lunch. We selected the "table de hote" that offered a variety of starters, daily selections and coffee/tea. Our selection was the creme de broccoli soup and swordfish with Mediterranean style vegetables which was absolutely delicious. A glass of french wine added to the... More

My wife and I had lunch at Cafe Cherrier and a few days later, a coffee. Portions are ample and tasty. The wait staff were friendly, professional and helpful with the menu options. It's a clean and well-appointed neighborhood cafe situated on rue St-Denis, at an easy two-block walk from the Sherbrooke metro.

It was a really cute spot for afternoon refreshments on Saint-Denis. I had the lemonade which was okay but my boyfriend for coffee form here and he loved it. We would come back.

Went back to Cafe Cherrier on Friday and treated two friends to dinner. We sat in the terasse. As usual, the food was great. The house smoked salmon was amazing, the duck confit well done, and tortellini sauce rosé was perfect. It's like being in Paris without having to leave Montreal. Cafe Cherrier, you are always close to my heart!

We came to this cafe when looking for a quick brunch after returning our rental bikes and before heading to the airport. Although the cafe was busy, we were still able to get a table outside. After we placed our order, our food arrived very quickly. Although the hollandaise sauce on our eggs Benedict was a bit too buttery, it... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
