Walked in, waddled out!

Pulled up at the St. Hubert, we saw the Cactus across the street, so we went in on a whim. The place was empty, but it WAS raining and 2pm on a Sunday. Nice decor, very Tex-Mex, comfortable, appropriate music. We had some excellent guacamole (I'm not usually a fan of cilantro, but it worked in this... read more

The restaurant is on St. Denis, a great spot for unique shops and restaurants, so we'd recommend it as a good spot to spot for a bite and relax. There's a patio on the street and seating inside, not big but it's not crowded which is nice. We had the cactus salad with feta, coriander, chilies and onion, which was... More

Service was decent. The food was satisfying but nothing exceptional. Make sure you get the green salsa. The red tastes like marinara. Good selection of beer and wine.

I went here with my son - mainly because it was close to my guest house. The food was very good, and plentiful. Service was excellent and it had a really nice atmosphere even though it was rather empty when we ate there - admittedly it was early evening. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Mexican food.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening and the place was empty and were quickly seated. The ambiance was nice enough with some background music and a Tex-mex feel to the place. I ordered the burritos with guacamole dip with chips as did my colleague. The chips and guacamole arrived and the dip was excellent. I love this stuff! It's so... More

This is great for a lazy sunday! go there have the ceviche and a large pitcher of sangria and bask in the sunlight on the terrace. Many of the other dishes are good too. The cheese doesn't over power the dishes and its a great little spot to spend the afternoon or have a great dinner among friends. The service... More

You ever have one of those days where you just keep walking because you cannot figure out where you should eat. It's almost like choice overload. Well, this was one of those days. You get mad and finally you walk into a place and just eat. Well, Cactus was the place for us on this occasion. While the service was... More

I took only the ceviche, it was good, but if you're mexican or have been to Mexico, you will see no similarities.. What's nice is the terrasse, right on St-Denis. It's a nice relaxed type of place

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
