We love their food . I wish there was a basha restaurant in NJ. I would go everyday . It's delicious . Love it love it. And the view of St Catherine is so nice to watch while you are eating.

Possibly the worst I've had. There are lots of options in the area. Keep looking you'll do yourself a favor. We asked for the Kefta (ground beef), it was way over seasoned and dry. The hummus and salad were decent, as was the water. Service is cafeteria style. And boy is it pricey! Over $30 for two dishes and two... More

We had to take takeouts for our train trip/s, we took platter with Rice and shwarma... It was awesome... it crossed all our limits.... If I did not leave Montreal on that day, I would have gone back couple of times... Well, will look forward to come back to revisit any time soon....

In a city like Montreal, with a substantial Arab community, Arabic food is plentiful. So, there is no reason why you should expect anything less than authentic and good. Unfortunately this is neither. It is neither authentic, nor good. The shawerma I had was bland, unseasoned and obviously the wrong type of meat. And the sandwich was missing a whole... More

Visiting Montreal for a conference and was grabbing a bite in the Eaton Centre food court- this was the only place that looked healthy, fresh and edible. But I was shocked- its absolutely amazing Middle Eastern food. They prepared it fresh in front of me and its all beautifully spiced with lots of gorgeous salads and vegetables. The beef is... More

A small group of us ate lunch at Basha recently, and it was another terrific meal from a cuisine that we ordinarily might not have tried. The food was all prepared right in front of us and came out very fresh. The Combo Basha was excellent with beef and chicken from the spit, rice, awesome potatoes, salad, hummus, garlic white... I used to eat at Basha at least once a week when I was a student in Montreal. The variety of food is quite large, you order at the counter and take the tray of deliciousness to a table. Their coffee is great, the tahini sauce is wonderful, and the servings are quite large. The desserts are great too, and... More

We had dinner tonight at this little Lebanese place that promptly featured "vegetarian" on its sign. You order most of the food from a kind of buffet line, & the man who was serving us was super flexible & patient. For instance, my son wanted 3 falafel patties & a plate of potatoes, & that's exactly what he got. (Careful... More

Cheap, tasty and great variety. Oh did I mention FRESH? Stopped in for a quick bite while shopping at the RESO in Montreal....So good! The line was very long because it's great. I had the shish tauck but the shwarmas looked fabulous too. For $10, I hate a huge plate that had rice and meat, potatoes, a salad, hummus, garlic... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
