Very nice find on Bernard

My sister in law choose this restaurant for a saturday night out with the kids. The chef is american and worked with Mario Batalli in New York City at Lupa restaurant. Apparently he fell in love and followed his heart to Montreal to open a restaurant here. It's a cute small restaurant... read more

Service is heavily personalized if you're a regular, this place has a professional, courteous and smiling service. The food is very tasty, cooked to perfection. Their beef slice starter is sooooo good. Every single time I go there, I'm never disappointed. Excellent wine variety

We found this restaurant just because it was opposite the Outremont theatre! But we were very positively surprised by the freshness of the prepared dishes. A fish soup with fresh herbs, a delicious salad caprese with an incredible fresh pesto, a fish tartare, again with very fresh herbs... we did not resist taking a desert which was very good. All... I love this smallish restaurant. Have been there on several occasions and the food is always tasty, fresh and delicious. Their risotto is amazing, my favorite! It is a great place for dinner with friends or a romantic evening. The only annoying part is finding parking in the area...

Was there last February with my girlfriend. I don't eat that much and I was disappointed of the portion I got when I took the Ossobuco, it was quite bland actually, service was average, the waiter didn't know much about wine, bad recommendation. My girlfriend took the fish, it was also bland and dry. Took the waiter about 15 mins... More

Cute little bistro on a nice street in MTL. Visited on a night with a few friends in the city and had a nice meal. Good atmosphere and good wine. Had 3 courses - all were enjoyable, except the dessert was a bit dry. All in all enjoyed my experience and would go back.

A very nice, summertime, sidewalk dinner experience. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and of good value. The only caveat was that the menu was limited in choices and the wine list also. The food was served hot and well presented, no hurry, the staff made it a point of asking if everything was satisfactory... More

Every time I eat at Le petit italien I experience delicous and elegant new combinations of ingredients in their Italian-inspired hors d'oeuvres, pasta, lamb, risotto and desserts. The amiable and professional yet relaxed service gives this place a homey feel. We sometimes sit at the bar for supper which is fun. The terrasse allows for people-watching on Outremont's "main drag"... More

I've been here 6 or 7 times and have always been very happy with the food. I usually take the tagliatelle with seafood in a tomato sauce (you can choose between white wine, tomato or rosee) and there's always a good amount of sauce. Some may argue too much, but I like to have some sauce with every bite. They... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
