Classic French with a Montreal Twist

A solid go to brasserie that has been here for ages. Excellent wine by the glass. Good options for vegetarians including a lovely mushroom ravioli and haricots verts spinach salad with perfectly poached egg. Finish with the chocolate profiterol that will make you smile.

Nice location, decor is ok but to sit outside during winter was a bit cold. We ate brunch, small menu. Overpriced 19$ for benedict. Service was good but took time to serve us. Beignet were excellent!

Lemeac is a nice place for a great dinner. Lots a choices for all palates and tastefully presented. The wine list is impressive although most wines start at $50+ dollars. The good news is that the less expensive wines on the menu are quite acceptable and we enjoyed them. The bistro is a little noisy, but the service makes up... More

Our first visit to Lemeac after years of visiting Montreal. And what were we waiting for! The food is pricey but very well prepared classics. The Confit de Canard was really perfect and the French Onion Soup flavorful without being too salty. Steak Tartar could have used capers but was otherwise just on point. Desserts were spectacular! And our vegetarian... More

An amazing restaurant, it's always busy so make sure you have reservations. There are a few bar stools for people who forget to reserve (it's actually my preferred spot). We try to go at least once or twice a month. Classical French cuisine, beautifully presented with fresh ingredients. Service is professional, fast and polite. It's worth the detour at any... More

This restaurant has maintained its good standard in food and service. We wish they would change the menu from time to time.

We shared a crab cake starter which was delicious. My main course was rack of lamb.It was more meat than I was expecting but really good.We shared the sticky pudding with ice cream dessert. Portions here were just right. Service was good.

My husband and I recently had dinner on Friday evening. I have never written a review for a restaurant in my own city but had such a nice meal felt compelled to write a review. It is located on trendy Laurier Ave in Outremont. Reservations are recommended. Ask for a table near the huge and beautiful windows facing Laurier Ave.... More

Very good bistro on Laurier. Parking can be problematic, but not always. Good bistro food, generous portions. Menu tends to stay the same for long periods of time.

We got there around 730 and they offered us a table right away, as long as we got out for 915. Coming from Toronto, it was another sign of the Montreal difference -- busy hour for dinner is 900, just when sidewalks are rolled up in Toronto! We started with plump Nova Scotia oysters and Muscadet as server suggested --... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
