An elegant Bistro in the shopping district of Montreal-Canada

This is a classic French Bistro which you could find in Paris or any major French City. Lunch was delightful with great service and outstanding food. The steak Tartare was faultless and the French Fries typically "French". Salads were not overly dressed. My wife had the rack of lamb which was... read more

I only wish this place was in my town. This restaurant is a nice, laid back restaurant set in what looks to be a high end shopping area. The atmosphere is casual, the service is pleasant and attentive but can be stretched when they get packed. We ordered simple salads, which were dressed perfectly. The main course of steak w/frites... Our favorite meal among many great meals in Montreal. For mains we had the scallops and rack of lamb respectively and both were incredible. Open on Sunday nights too, which is a plus for non-locals.

Loooove the food,Love the presentation, love the service and ambiance. During the summer season, they have a covered terrace to have the outdoor and indoor feeling. You will even notice the people that go to Lemeac are chic and have that je ne sais quoi attitude. Any dish that you will order will be a fun ride for your palate. The... More

A little out of the way if you stay in or near Old Town-- about $20 by taxi. Nice outdoor seating with ceiling heaters available. Enthusiastic service, bistro menu, hangar steak and fries very good. Green salads are large and could be shared. Overall pleasant experience, upbeat decor, good looking crowd.

We went here for a late lunch and order the midday menu with 2 course and coffee. Had one of the best entrees that was a chicken leg cooked to perfection! Best of all was the cold cucumber and avocado soup that started it all. The complementary coffee that came with the meal is nothing to write about though. Overall... More

We enjoyed our lunch at this french bistro style restaurant. The food was beautifully presented and was very tasty, although a bit pricey for lunch. The pomme fries were excellent and the greens were very fresh.

First off, I would like to clarify that due to the circumstances described below, I was unable to sample the food. My review serves mainly as a guide for people who want a more young and trendy place to eat... My husband made reservations at LeMeac based on the rave reviews this restaurant had received. Upon entering, the first thing... More

Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant for a first timer doing brunch in Montreal - we were not disappointed! Service was fantastic, food delicious! I recommend getting reservations as this place is very busy. It was a great mix of native Montreal folks and tourists alike.

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
