Great place for a small group of friends

I went to les Cons Servent with 7 co-workers. If you like meat, this is great restaurant for you. The menu offers several meat plates (duck, filet mignon, liver, etc) but it also has fish and vegetarian choices. I had the ray fish which was great! Good choice of nature wines. I love that place. Honest and trad French food with a New World twist. Where else would you be served veal liver with cardamome ? Service is excellent and the wine list is handpicked. From the first basket of bread to the last drop of grappa, I find myself in a comfortable and lively environment where a bunch of food... More

We ate here twice during our recent stay in Montreal. We were staying two blocks away from the restaurant and it was awesome. The decor is beautiful and a great vibe. The staff are wonderful. The food was amazing, especially the duck confit and the dessert with the pears inside of the doughnut thingies... Amazing! They make a mean Cosmo... More

Highs: * The charcuterie plate with delicious preserves. * The excellent house beer. * The fun decor and atmosphere. * The friendliness of the staff. Lows: * I was brought the wrong order (fish & chips instead of beef with risotto), resulting in me getting my plate after the rest of the table had finished half of theirs. * The... More

I had a pleasant time here. It was a perfect match for a Friday night: good food, great wine and helpful service. I do recommend the trout which you can find a good wine in a extensive wine list. Oh, please try the nibbles: those caramelized pecans are such a nice treat.

Excellent service, fun atmosphere and good wine list. But the food was disappointing. The duck parpadelle was a bad mix of tastes, my wife did not like it at all, asked if she could have something else and the waiter charged both plates. My fish bouillabase had little taste and the ray had a weird texture.it was my second time... More

The restaurant's name is a play on words and, depending on how you pronounce it, either sounds like the preserves, as in the pickled vegetables and eggs on offer that are also sold to take home, or "the idiots are waiting on us." Cute, but not a bit of foreboding I hoped. The restaurant came recommended to us by a... More

Not our first time in this local restaurant. We were four friends having a late dinner. We all had appetizers which were average (boar cake, salmon, gnocchi - very good and venison tartare). We also had a main to share, the skate which was good. Our mains were another issue: two of us had the venison tartare as a main... More

I ordered a bavette that was almost cold, I had to send it back to the kitchen. They didn't bother preparing a new one, and reheated it so that it wasn't cooked the way I asked. The food is over priced, and we would have expected a better service. We were 4 and all ordered different things, we were hungry... More

I love the restaurant! The food is yummy, fair priced, fresh and the presentation is appealing. I like that every night of the week there is something on sale on the menu. The night I went it was the wine, really cheap and delicious. The menu changes often, depending on seasons and availability of ingredients. I went a few times... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
