Great place with delicious food

I read reviews on this place and they were glowing. We had already frequented Old Montreal, downtown, Latin Qtr and wanted something different. This Italian restaurant is located in the Village on a very lively street with lots of places to eat, bars & shops. The food was very good. They brought... read more

I have been going to this restaurant many times over the years and was a favorite. It has always been a good place to get an inexpensive meal. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated over the past few years since ownership has changed. The atmosphere is no longer the same with the real Italian resto feel. Although the... I had eaten here twice over the years and found it only "okay." Frankly, the reason I ate there on this particular visit was that it was convenient. What a surprise I had! Pasta was cooked to perfection; veal was incredibly tender and sauced perfectly. The service was great and the price was much lower than what one would have... More

Fantastic food and attentive service for reasonable prices. Excellent location on St. Catherine with outdoor seating. The tortellini with rose sauce was delicious and the house red table wine was quite good for the price. Tasty fresh rolls and salads. Highly recommended!

Good quality food. We had various types of pasta and all tasted very good. Prompt and friendly service. Oh, and the antipasto plate made for a nice appetiser. Will go back on my next visit.

you are looking for an Italian restaurant that is worth to visit? Strega is the place worth visiting. This is a tasty menu and for all budgets, staff offers a superb service. during the summer, the large terrace on the street gives you a festive and access to the street directly with any pedestrians

La Strega is a packed, little restaurant with great food. The prices are surprisingly low. Their specials list is the best bet. Summers, they build a deck out into pedestrianized Ste. Catherine's street but those table are hard to get.

Pardon the lame attempt at a multilingual pun, but I'm very tired. What wasn't lame was our experience with La Strega. Recommended by the manager of our B&B as the place locals go for inexpensive but damn fine pasta we walked the 12 blocks in a light rain. I will gladly do that walk again. Fresh hot crusty rolls appeared... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
