Okay, as a born and bred New Yorker who does bagels every Sunday like religion, I had to try Montreal's much touted bagels. And from what I heard, Fairmount was like the original. Sure enough - real old store, old ovens, charming neighborhood. This is old school bagel store - nothing BUT bagels and lots of 'em coming out fresh... More

Great bagels from a fire brick oven. Go late after bar hopping and have a take home breakfast. Bagels are usually too hot to put in a plastic bag. A Montreal landmark.

To clarify the bagels themselves are truly excellent with numerous bread types available to please all, would easily give them a 4.5/5 based on taste. However there are drawbacks with this place that lower my overall rating. Firstly, there is no where to sit inside, you buy your bagel and go. Secondly, the location is not the most central or... I like to declare this bagel the best bagel in the world. You may think its lonely at the top but it must be very crowded for second place

We were on our first trip to Montreal and of course had to try the best bagels possible - thankfully this bagel shop was recommended several times over so we knew where to go. Wow! Is all I can say - I tried several varieties and they were all fabulous (especially the pretzels) - what made them unique is that... More

I'm not a native New Yorker, but I've lived in NYC for the last 7 years and my wife is a native New Yorker (born and raised in Queens). We think these are hands down the best bagels. Especially when you get them fresh. They are smaller, so you don't get the feeling that you're getting a carb overload. The... More

Just a bagel bakery, the bagels are airy and light. Really good. Luckily this neighborhood has colorful benches on which to sit and chow. The tiny storefront is PACKED with sleeved bagels.

Montreal's best bagels- and I tried them all! Very old school storefront, open 24/7, generally a short line. Buy whatever is coming out of the oven, and buy an extra 'cause one won't be enough. Bonus: the neighborhood is full of great restaurants, and a fresh bagel makes an excellent appetizer or dessert. Easy to get to on public transit... More

A must do for one of the two best wood cooked bagels in Montreal. The small quaint shop may require a bit of a wait but I have found in this city..if there is a line up you need to be there.

Went to Fairmount Bagel wanting to see what all the hype was about. Got 2 sesame bagels, one with just cream cheese and one with cream cheese and lox. The bagels themselves were definitely one of the best bagels I have ever had, warm, fresh, and soft. The only problem is my bagel of choice is a Garlic bagel (not... More
