Great bagels, though the shop-front could be a bit more customer-friendly

After hearing so many good things about their bagels, this place was a must-visit for us. The bagels, as promised, were yummy, but the shop-front (crowded and fast-paced) was intimidating to tourists like us, and the selection seemed to be mostly limited to giant bags of 15 bagels at a time, or... read more

While the bagels are really great, the service is terrible. The woman who took my order was very rude and dry, like I was wasting her time. Its clear they are not fans of American tourists.

The bagels here are truly incredible and definitely should be a stop on your Montreal bucket list. There is usually a long line our the door, so be sure to budget the time. This is also not a sit down establishment, you order your bagels from the counter and they bag them up for you. You can get the bagels... More

The place was simple since the focus is on bagels bagels bagels. We opted to try a variety of bagels with cream cheese and I've never had fresher bagels - so moist and crunchy and sweet. We brought back a half dozen, but when we ate it a few days later, they were really hard and lost some flavor...boooo.

We stopped here to grab some of the famous Montreal bagels after a late night walk around the city. My review is possibly biased by the fact that I like fluffy yet chewy bagels. These are flatter and firmer. The flavors are good. The chocolate chip has pieces of orange peel in it which is a great combination.

Amazing little hole in the wall filled to the brim with fresh bagels. The selection is by far the largest I have ever seen and the fresh bagels are outstanding! If you are in Montreal get some fresh bagels here.

Do yourself a favor and visit this packed and quite busy bagel shop in Montreal on Fairmount Street. Chewier and smaller than the bagels found in the US. You can't really say you've visited Montreal until you've had one!

This is a legendary place. It's irreverent to say anything bad about Montreal bagels because they are so beloved. Some fips 1. Get the sesame bagel or maybe poppy. The cinnamon raisin had too much cinnamon and hides the taste too much 2. These are not our ny Brooklyn type bagels. The dough is a little different. Just a little... More

Unfortunately I live 2 hours away from Montreal. Actually maybe this is better for my diet. This is too good. I always buy too much and freeze them now. How bagels should be made.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
