Everything about this place is true, but you MUST experience it for yourself!

How lucky we were to get into "Two Monkeys" on a cancelation! The first surprise we noted was how open air and casual and small this restaurant was. It's a lot to live up to, being ranked #1 in Montreal--. We had to wait two weeks to get in--and I am glad our visit was long enough, because this truly is an amazing restaurant. Every dish had complexities of flavor and texture that meant that they got even better after the delicious first bite. I will say just... More

There were restaurants that were walking distance from us but I kept reading rave reviews of this restaurant so we took a cab and went for dinner. This was the best meal of my life and that is saying something. Everything was perfect, unpretentious, fresh from the garden, perfectly seasoned beautiful amazing dining. Perfection. Cannot say enough about this place,... More

Our friends took us here on our last night of our trip to Montreal. And I can definitely say they saved the best to last! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We sat up at the bar so we could watch the chefs prepare the food. It was such a great experience. I'm a vegetarian and whilst... More

Seriously, I joined tripadvisor just to leave a review of this restaurant. It's exceptional - charming, delicious, cozy, beautifully presented yet casual and delightful. The corn and potato purée is out of this world as were the entrees we both ordered. It is a must if you are in Montreal - they don't sit many per evening so be sure... More

Yummy, charming, friendly, and courteous. It was costly but worth it. We enjoyed a marvelous meal and yes, I would go back!

This is a small place with only about 14 tables and some seats at the bar area. The service was impeccable and helpful when ordering. We both had the same meal, corn and potato purée with avocado chunks, spring greens and edible flowers- nasturtiums. Just a very beautiful presentation. This was followed by a slightly cured Artic Char. Once again... More

Best meal we had while in Montreal. It's a small restaurant with lots of character and an elegant but casual vibe. Staff was very knowledgeable. Food was superb. The amuse bouche was to die for. Wine pairings recommended were very good. Not to be missed!

We planned our visit to Les Deux Singes de Montarvie well in advance of our visit based on reviews we saw here. When the evening came we found ourselves exhausted from all the activities we took part in during our day in Montreal. We took the metro to Laurier and began the walk over. I was a bit grumpy because... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
