Only heard good things about this place until we experienced it for ourselves. Being European we thought this place was a warm welcoming place to visit for a beer and a bite to eat, well so we were told. We sat at the empty bar and waited, and waited, and waited to the point we were about to leave then... More

We went here during first night of three in Montreal. We enjoyed beer, mixed drinks and the atmosphere. Did I mention the atmosphere and beer? What a treat. Great service in English but French also spoken fluently. It's amazing how they switch from English to French and back. It is a noisy, boisterous place. We hit this place up each... More

On our way back to the hotel, we decided to stop here for a beer. The staff and atmosphere was excellent! They were very friendly and we felt welcomed. People did not interact with us like they would in the States but nevertheless we enjoyed ourselves. It surprises me though that the staff can drink / do shots while working.... More

What a great find this was, sounds a strange thing to eat but the poutine (chips, gravy and cheese) is oddly a local deliquesce and I have to admit it was pretty good, all washed down with a few local ales.

Good place to stop and grab a beer. They have a large selection of beers on tap! The service was good. They offered up the happy hour menu even though it wasn't happy hour. We also ordered the nachos with chilli and guacamole. The chilli and guacamole were really good!

It was late, we were tired from a full day of sightseeing and we were looking for a place close to our hotel to grab a bite to eat. Le Vieux Dublin did not let us down. They had an extensive variety of burgers and beers on their menu, both of which fit the bill. There were several tables and... More

Went here on a Monday night for somewhere handy; not many people were eating but the food was good for the price paid and they had a better than average selection of drinks. The bartender was a young overworked lad who had little time for chit chat but was pleasant and efficient. Went back a few night later as I... More

Sometimes it the people you meet who affect your experience of a venue. I stopped here to watch England play Fiji in the 2015 world cup. I took a seat at the bar, and the French guy next to me said I was sitting in the wrong place if I wanted to support England, as he was cheering in Fiji.... More

My husband and I stopped in here for a pint and ended up staying for hours! The bartenders were really friendly and helpful in choosing different drafts we weren't familiar with. Pete started up some live music playing hits from the 70s which was a perfect addition to the atmosphere. The pub really has an authentic irish feel. My husband... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
