Famous Morin and Mcmillan chefs run this highly seeked local place. Reservations needed. Terrasse in the back in summer is one of the best, with on site vegetable garden a few feet away from tables. A must try in Montreal

I have been to this restaurant before so expectations for the food was quite high. The chef did not disappoint! We shared an appetizer of prosciutto and foie gras served on in a pastry bun! Delish!! For the main courses our table had the Ribs, veal liver, and the duck! All were superbly prepared and portions are quite large. For... More

The restaurant is well know for its meat, but it didn´t meet the expectations of the 4 of us who went for the first time (probably the last). The food is ok, but it is quite expensive to be just ok. Service was good.

Loud, funny wait-staff full of personality, hard to read chalk menus. haha. And food is really good. The grapefruit desert I had was about the best frozen desert I ever had. Horse tartare was a bit too overspiced with mustard for my taste. Prime Rib ($60) was succulent and perfectly cooked. Table next to us had roast lamb neck (serves... More

Joe Beef has been on our list of restaurants to try for several years and we're glad we finally took advantage of a trip to Montreal to indulge. We were a bit nervous as we took along our two and five-year-old children but it was a meal well worth having them stay up a bit late for. We started with... More

I've eaten here twice, was excellent both times. Great wine list and great dishes. Reserve a few weeks in advance because it is always booked solid.

I have been to this restaurant more than 3 times and I'm greatly satisfied every single time! It is hard to make a reservation on the weekends but it's worth the wait and service is always excellent! great atmosphere, phenomenal food and decent portion- nothing to complain about! can't wait to come back again!

If you're looking for an online menu - don't bother - it changes, probably daily, and is written on a chalkboard. We ate in the rear courtyard, under an extended roof beside raised beds in which various herbs and vegetables were growing and were periodically harvested by the chefs. (There is also an indoor room, which was packed; if you... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
