Fooled by the high traffic.

Walking the streets of old Montreal and feeling the thirst, I gaged the numerous open air cafes by the amount of people sitting in them. Usually, high traffic signifies a decent place. This time it was a miss for me. The place wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Provencale pizza and Santa Fe... read more

Terrible service, mediocre food. Our waiter was distracted and uninterested. So much so that we couldn't even get him back to order more drinks. Just poor service. Food was mediocre at best. I would avoid. Atmosphere was okay, it's a loud pub.

This place is excellent for Flammkuchen. They originate from an area in France that is at the border of Germany and used to belong to Germany called Elsaß now Alsace in French. The dish is popular in both countries and there loads of variations just as with Pizza but if you like Pizza you will like these although they are... More

High end brasserie. Food is good altough not fantastic. If you like the brasserie type you will love. Not my cup of tea. Fatty and sweet dishes with a good variety of beers.

Good place to go for food or drinks with friends. Good atmosphere. A bit too hot. I had the tuna tartar and it was good. Pizzas were good too.

The restaurant is located on busy St-Catherine street near Guy. It has a tiny micro-brewery in the front of the restaurant. We went there for lunch on Friday noon. Downstairs were full of people, we had to go upstairs through a stairwell. The steps could be dangerous when you are drunk. Waitress gave guests a sample of dark beer; it... More

The Quebec tradition of poutine is alive and well at this micro brewery specialist pub. Well worth the visit just for the beers!!

We stopped there after having a nice dinner on Crescent street and loved their beer selection. The bartenders and servers were very professional and very attentive as well. We stopped there only for a few drinks, but the food we saw also looked delicious!

This restaurant seems to be one of several wit the sam name. we went to he one on lower Rue St. Denis. It is located on a stretch of many restaurants, perfect for people watching. We each tried a different house beer. Very good! The moules and the pizza (la Parisiene) were quite good, especially for the price. Not a... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
