Surprisingly good food

We walked along the street trying to pick a restaurant and the Three Brasseurs looked the most popular. We sat outside to enjoy Vieux Montreal. We were visiting some friends in Montreal and decided to stop in for beer and appys. What we received was one of the worst experiences ever, and we have been a lot of bad places. The service was extremely slow. It took 30 minutes to get a beer and over 40 minutes to get food service. Once the food finally... More

We asked the concierge at our hotel for a recommendation for a good, “family” restaurant. He recommended 3 Brasseurs. I think he thought we asked for a restaurant where the food and service is geared for kids. I guess 3 Brasseurs doesn’t want to be geared for kids, but the level of service is very poor and the food is... More

Came here for drinks. We sampled some of the beer. I paid 5$ for a litre of beer which was much more reasonable that what I paid for beer in other places in the city. Cannot comment on the food as we didn't have any. Our server was excellent and brought out samples of beer for us to try.

Can't go wrong eating here. Solid, unpasteurized beers and good selection of pub food. No surprises here, but sometimes that's exactly what you want. Friendly, efficient staff, too.

A pretty good chain of pubs in Montreal (and in Europe, I gather). They do brew some beer on the premises, I think, or at least they pretend to. The light unfiltered beer was perfect for a hot afternoon. Food is mediocre - don't order their poutine, which is frankly terrible. Service was cheerful and polite.

A piece of history as it was once a brewery. Very busy pub but fast, efficient service. Delicious homemade burgers and fries with a terrific beer selection. Many unique flavoured beers that one can sample. We went twice. The second visit it was extremely busy with a large group meeting and the kitchen was slower. We didn't mind as we... More

What else to expect from a restaurant on ste catherine. Ambiance is ok. They offer a good variety of local beer. Waiter was good but delivery was executed by a bunch of busboy who had no idea who had ordered what (we were a large group) Food is very average. Go with the flammekueches, sort of pizza , only decent... More

We visited this microbrewery during Jazzfest. While the food and atmosphere were nothing special and had a chain restaurant feel the beer was very good and the waitstaff pleasant. Our check for two people for 2 salads, 1 burger, and 2 beers was more than $50USD, so this is not a budget restaurant.

had a great time here, was in for a bachelor party and the bartenders were phenomenal. they have their own brews and which is a good selection as well as bartenders that make a great selection of drinks. if you are with a group, ask for a russian roulette!

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
