Good for a get-together with friends

I found the tasting menu (menu découverte) a good value, at $60 for 5 courses (really 4, since the fifth is a spoonful of sorbet to cleanse the palate after the foie gras, before the main course). Although I was not too impressed by the seared salmon appetiser, the veal dish was very good indeed... read more

Our first time in this restaurant where you can bring your own wine. Extremely noisy. 40' waiting between the entrée and the main dish. Too small portions and thus expensive. Very disappointed.

This meal was outstanding with intimate atmosphere and attentive service. We will go back for sure. We appreciated the fact that it was not noisy and we could take our time to enjoy the food. We selected the menu découverte. The foie gras is A plus.If you decide to go there, "bon appétit!".

For all you Foie Gras lovers out there... It's not hard to find Foie Gras on the menu in Montreal, but when it comes to being done right; properly deveined, well seared with a perfect center that hasn't vanished, a good dosing of salt and sweetness from a well selected fruit...Well, Christophe does that very well indeed. As for the... More

Restaurant well located, nice decor and is bring your on wine which is a plus. Food taste excellent but portion size little compared to pricing. Our main course was Bar fillet. We were expecting for the price a center cut piece but the serving was end of fillet instead-this should be kept for tartare serving. An extra cost of $2,... More

Being a wine lover who doesn't like to be ripped off by wine prices in restaurants, i love BYOB restaurants. Ans this is one of my favorites. Always great food. Small menu with 4-5 choices for entrees and 2 menu degustation. Everything is always excellent. We've been there a couple times even in groups and were never disappointed. the "Joue... More

The grilled foie gras was very good the wellington filet was good and thevother two meals were average. The service was professional and friendly. A good thing is a bring your own wine restaurant. Ussually the Montreal restaurants charge 2-3 time the... More

I ate here about a year ago as part of a fairly large group (holiday dinner). I'm vegetarian, spoke with them well ahead of time and was assured by the chef that I wouldn't be disappointed - they would put together an excellent vegetable plate for me. That didn't happen - I expected a good dinner (they have a good... More

Very pleasant service - polished but not stuffy. Food was excellent, especially the creme brulee au foie gras et champigons sauvages, pan fried foie gras with a blueberry sauce and the hot mousse au chocolat. Prices are also reasonable. Looking forward to returning.

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
