First, they offer a wonderfully varied GF menu so one can relax, secure that the chef has a good sense of special needs. Second, everything is beautifully prepared with fine ingredients simply matched. Third, our server suggested excellent wines to complement each dish, from the oysters with mango, the halibut with peaches and the veal filet mignon. This is one... More

Spending time in Old Montreal is a joy. Especially with the warm weather upon us, this area is a magnet for tourists. Often times, because of the great surroundings, the dining options are not as good. But, Le Club Chasse et Peche does not take advantage of the tourist traffic. This is a first-class, top flight restaurant.....no matter where it... More

Service was very attentive Had the octopus which was decent, and the piglet fois gras risotto which was excellent. Did the surf and turf as the main and the wagyu beef was exceptional but the lobster was just OK.

A top place to eat in Montreal. It is a shame that people can dine here in t shirts and shorts. It certainly diminishes the atmosphere. The food is special, well presented and wonderfully cuisined. The choices are all interesting. The lamb was exquisite. The wine list is special. Be sure to have room on your credit card. Good place for celebrity... More

We were first introduced to Le Club Chasse et Peche by a bartender at the W Hotel. Can't thank her enough to turning us onto this truly special place. Food and wine are amazing and the staff is top notch. Have not been back in awhile, but still talk about it and recommend to anyone visiting Montreal. Can't wait to... More

This place is well worth a trip. It is a bit pricey, but every penny is worth it. The oysters with charisma were fantastic, the snow crab appetizer out of this world and the halibut heaven! Dessert was ok, but I am sure it was my fault as I did not go with my first choice. The margarita was super... More

It is rare to see so much attention to appeal to all the senses in every single dish . The food is cooked to perfection and always has several complimentary components ....not just for show either ..they all add to the taste experience. Wine list is very comprehensive....lots if old world finds. Ya really do need help since it is... More

Do not be put off by the low ceilings and dark ambience as you walk inside. What awaits you is a menu of great quality and with something for everyone if you like meat and fish. The portions are on the small side but the food is exquisite and the wine list truly amazing. Yes it is an expensive night... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
