Exceptional food with great waiter named Gabriel

Food was fantastic. The oysters, served 3-ways, were unreal! A must try. The risotto dish with foie gras shavings was outstanding - A mainstay on the menu and one highly recommended. If you want a great experience, try this restaurant and ask for the waiter Gabriel. He was friendly... read more

Everything was absolutely delicious. The staff is really nice. Word of advice: there is no terrace and the restaurant is in a basement. Better to go during the winter or on a rainy day.

Outstanding service, delicious food a must try if you haven't been. Foie Gras risotto was creamy and cooked to perfection. Venison was tender and moist, it melted in your mouth. I look forward to going back!

Le Club Chasse et Peche is a quaint, classic French restaurant in Old Montreal. A few thoughts to help you plan.... 1. The walls are dark and the ceilings are wallpapered, giving you the feel that you are in a cellar or cave. The decor feels a bit dated. 2. Attire of the guests runs the range from shorts with... I love a restaurant that has a bit of mystery to it. You can pass right by this place and not even notice. Chasse et Peche is an excellent spot with a very cool and dark ambience. THe food is excellent, I recommend the surf and turf. Truly a great experience and wonderful service

French-style fine dining in a Montreal fashion. Loved the atmosphere, overstuffed leather seats in a small historic space, feels very much like a country club, very relaxed but elegant. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, including ingredient sources. It was delightful to have her explain the details. For the level of service (VERY high) and for the quality... My girlfriend and I had a dinner there during the vacation. We had two appetizers and two main courses between us. Foie gras covered risotto was absolutely amazing. The main dish for me (seafood pasta) was good but nothing special. Atmosphere was very nice and service was good.

An excellent restaurant in a lovely setting. Service was very good and the food was very good but the star of the evening was the piglet risotto; absolutely world class.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
