Best Dinner in Montreal

First time visiting this restaurant and can only rave. The food was excellent, same for the service and ambiance. A start with oysters, which can be prepared 3 ways, were sweet and delicious. Then sweetbreads over lobster ravioli=A-plus. Sucking pig also got an A-plus rating. Our server... read more

Great atmosphere, great food. Clubby, comfortable interior and intimate setting; the tables are spaced far enough apart that your space feels somewhat private. The food was delicious from start to finish. We tried the (highly recommended) beef carpaccio and the scallops. Both were delicate and perfectly done. Duck magret and venison to follow; the best either of us have ever... More

I started with the Piglet Risotto with foie gras which was probably the richest, most unctuous and best risotto ever. But, you have to be a meat eater for this menu. My main was a crusted , rolled pork with divine veggies. We ordered two bottles of wine (Syrah and Cab) to compare. Service was fantastic- courteous but non obtrusive.... More

I have had the pleasure of dining there on several occasions, and always go away feeling "these guys really know what they're doing". From the comfort of that chairs to the lighting, to the totally cool service, CCP defines my ideal of what going out for a nice meal is meant to be. Friends I have taken there from out-of-town... Simply sublime, from start to finish! We travel from upstate NY just to dine here, and it never disappoints! From exquisite foie gras and pork risotto, to delicious desserts, it's always a transcendental experience at Chasse et Peche! Can't wait to come back!

Often when you go back to a restaurant that was over the top some years ago, the experience is not as good. NOT the case here! The atmosphere is still the right blend of casual and chic. The service from beginning to end was well oiled and classy. Our waitress was fluently trilingual, knowledgeable about the food and very pleasant.... More

What can I say, we loved it. From the moment we entered the restaurant we felt valued as customers. The waiter was extremely helpful in explaining the items on the menu and assisting us with our wine selection. We had the lobster ravioli, salmon and duck. The bombolini for desert. Everything was just great in taste and presentation.

Service was amazing, our waiter knew it all! The food was exceptional but different. If you are not someone that likes to try new things, probably not the place for you. Not much of an ambiance, found it a bit of an older crowd and surprisingly noisy. It was a great 1st experience!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
