Carb overload

I stopped by to pick up bagels for the road trip home. I've been trying to stay away from carbs but really wanted to try a Montreal style bagel. These bagels are delicious. They're smaller, more dense, and more crusty than American bagels. Sososo good. I shoved one down in under 10 minutes. I got... read more

Fresh, out of the oven bagels. A real experience just watching them come out. A must for anyone with even a passing bagel interest - they really are good and even better when fresh.

Yummy bagels, but the best part is watching them come out of the oven; buy 'em while they're hot! It's a particularly good place to go late at night.

Never seen such an extensive variety of bagels anywhere. Perfect place for breakfast in the city. The juices and coffee are great too. We were a group of 6 people and tried a variety of the yummy bagels.

Fast service and great selection! The smell when you walk in is comforting. I prefer this place over Fairmont bagel because you get to watch them create the bagels by hand. It would be great if they had a cafe section/sitting area.

Local bagel shop on the main road in the Plateau. Bagels were awesome. Being from NY/NJ area I am accustomed to great bagels, but this place was up there with the best of them. They cook the bagels in a huge brick oven in the pack, pretty cool system they got going here. They have a small sit down area... More

We really enjoyed a snowy day visit to St-Viateur Bagel. My kids had plain bagels, one with cream cheese, one with butter, the kids loved them, they came with some delicious cantaloupe. I had the classic Bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers, it was pure yumminess. My husband had the same, it comes with a great fit salad.... More

Everyone has their favourite bagel place, but St-Viateur Bagel is old school and wonderful. The smell when you walk in is comforting and exciting. Watching them create the bagels is half the fun. Seeing them in the oven and being turned and them taking out is marvellous. We bought 4 dozen to give out to friends in Brockville and ran... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighborhood Profile
Outremont
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theater productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighborhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
