Always a good choice

Great menu. Good variety. Excellent chinese/canadian food. A lot of seafood. Not too expensive. You can share plates. We've been going there for many years now, and have never been disappointed. Lots of room between tables also...

Mr Ma is an upscale Chinese restaurant with very well prepared food. It is located in Place Ville Marie, part of the underground network in this cold, snowy and icy city. It is connected to hotels, shopping, indoor parking and transportation hubs. Wonderful to eat well with dry feet. Great service as well.

We went to Mr Ma yesterday for a business lunch. We were a party of 20 approx. the restaurant is well decorated and suitable for business lunches or dates during the evening. I ordered the general tao chicken which came with a sort of fried rice and vegetable. The dish was really good and tasty. Well above your usual fast... More

We happened to be walking by this restaurant when we decided to walk in. What a great choice we made. High quality Chinese food at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going back.

We had been to Mr. Ma for dinner many years ago and we always remembered the great food we had especially the deep fried duck and we never the chance until recently to return. We went for lunch this time. The restaurant was extremely busy. We did not have a reservation but since we were still fairly early (before 12:00)... More

I came here on a whim, with my family. We were on vacation in Montreal, having no idea how to speak French, or navigate the city. We found Mr. Ma by coincidence. I'll be honest, the service was a bit slow, and prices more expensive than the usual Chinese food I'm used to - BUT the waiter, and all the... More

The menu contains more items you will ever be able to test in your entire life ... Good chineese foods. General TAO is the classic and is very good. Suggestion: have the Green Tea ice cream for desert !

The layout and location (and reputation) makes it seems this place is high end. I have found little places around the downtown core, who offer better quality. Granted we were a group of 30, but I order orange chicken - there was one peel of orange zest. The chicken did not taste like chicken. My fried rice was not fried... More

We had a good meal here a few days ago but it wasn't cheap. Most of the main dishes cost more than $25 and this was for pretty basic Chinese food. Most of the wine cost more than $50 a bottle so I decided to take advantage of the "special offer", a Chardonnay for $37, and it came with a... More

Went for or anniversary and it was just as good as it was 15 years ago. Started with the spring rolls and they were light and crispy. Very hot and fresh, Then we moved on to the main dish, chicken and mushrooms and a pork dish full of flavour great taste. We also had a bowl of steamed white rice,... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
