Two great meals here

We had a breakfast and dinner here and really enjoyed both. Great food and great service. It's a small dining area with a nice quiet atmosphere.

An excellent dinner with prefect service and wine. We had the tasting menu with great choices. The Dover Sole was perfect and when combined with the rest of the courses made for a night and dinner to remember.

The service and food was excellent. Order the tasting menu. It is well worth it, although the prefix dinner is a more affordable alternative. The tasting menu really gave us the full experience.

This is not a walk-in restaurant. Not particularly expensive for the quality of cuisine and service, but you will need a reservation. Two Fix-price offerings plus many a la carte selections available. Good wine list, and excellent bar. The mushroom ravioli first was spectacular as were the lamb chops. This is a must-do for Montreal. It is in Old Montreal,... More

This is one of the best meals that I have had in a restaurant. I was there on Friday May 15th 2015. We started with a brocolli cauliflour soup that was served hot (I don;t like cold soup) . I had the talapia which was beautiflly seasoned , with vegetables, rice , all had amazing flavours. My aunt had the... More

A beautiful setting, totally compromised by inattentive and haphazard service and then food that was frankly terrible. Prices (expensive) were NOT a consideration in this review, other than the obvious: given the service & food, prices were vastly disproportionate. We were three couples; appetizers were acceptable to good, after which the bottom fell out. Time between appetizers and dinners was... More

Fresh, local ingredients with French style. The Dover sole was better than any I've ever had. My companions raved about their steaks. The bar tender made excellent suggestions on the wines

The food at Bonaparte is okay but nothing more than that. The green salad was blah. the onion soup so-so. Our pork, tilapia and steak servings were "interesting " but far from excellent . The service was poor and we waited a half hour between our mains and dessert and then another half hour for the bill. This place seems... More

Mushroom ravioli. Oh, my. Had it twice! All the food we tried was superb and the dining room is lovely. We especially liked to dine at the bar for a less formal experience.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
