Great food, service, atmosphere in an old building in Vieux Montreal. Try a table at a window overlooking Rue St-Francois Xavier. Very popular is their suggested Gourmet Dinner. It also has an adjoining Auberge. Located next to the Centaur Theater - Montreal's premier English theater the restaurant offers an expedited service pre-show. All in all a very nice evening.

Had an excellent dinner for 2 last Saturday. Usually I am skeptical of this type of resto because its in the old port of Montreal (i.e. tourist trap) and usually the price does not match the service or quality of the meal. That was not the case this time. Our reservation was at 9pm, and we were seated quickly with... More

Friendly staff. Scrumptious presentation. Delicious food. Crepes, croissant, bacon, sausage, fruit and fresh cream with a slice of strawberry and a twig of mint. Perfect for a romantic morning celebrating a special day with your love.

Excellent French cuisine with a modern twist, food is served on a good tableware (no extra-trendy odd things, slates, etc.) a discreet and efficient service, a nice atmosphere - a perfect place to spend an evening with a special person.

Romantic dinner for two before seeing a show next door at the Centaur. Arrived early (5:30 p.m.) and got a lovely seat by the fireplace. Service was excellent (shout out to our server Jason). We both took the table d'hote. Soup was excellent, as was the rabbit. Main courses were also very good (steak and chicken). Very nice presentation. Total... More

Second time here, each time better than before. Wine list superb, foie gras creme brûlée the best ever. Have the tasting menu you won't regret it.

A very chic restaurant in old Montreal serving French cuisine. I started with the classic onion soup, had the Lamb and ratatouille entree, and finished with their symphony desert. I wasn't too impressed with their version of the onion soup. There was almost no cheese on the soup, which I wish there was more of. The lamb was cooked perfectly... More

We were staying at this hotel, a real jewel, and heard great things, especially from locals in Montreal. Food was great, there was a prix fixe dinner at very modest price, 39 dollars canadian for a three course meal. Like being in France

i love this restaurant, it has been in operation for years , it continues to serve an amazing meal, with an outstanding service. obviously it is not a restaurant that you eat at every week, but you should have it on your list to visit it at least once a year or for a beautiful occasion. they will never let... This restaurant doesn't generate a lot of buzz, because it sticks with the tried and true, but it remains a fantastic dining experience. Elegant, but not ostentatious, is how I'd describe the setting, the service, and the food. My wife and I each had the tasting menu when we visited in January, and it was a real pleasure. She opted... Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
