French Flavor

While staying in Old Town Montreal recently, my wife and I had the pleasure of dinning at this property. The menu selection is excellent if you are looking for a true French Flavor. I suggest looking at the sampler menu. It gives a variety of menu selection at a reasonable cost. We enjoyed the 3... read more

This a plsce to go whrn you want a truly fine dining experience and don't mind paying for it. The kind of dining that proves Montreal has the cosmopolitan restaurants that are up there with any in the world. Food and service are topnotch. Bison steak was cooked to perfection. Salmon was artfully prepared. Salad was a standout with every... More

On our second evening of dining here, I asked around the table (four of us) what could be improved in this dining room? No one could come up with anything. I could stop here and say no more. That says it all. But, you want to know a few details. First off, the breakfast is included with your room. It... More

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge in my hotel. It is tucked up a narrow street. It is very stylish, with nice tables and sparkling glassware. The serving staff were very professional. The food was excellent, as was the wine. The price was reasonable. A booking, wspecially on a Saturday night, is essential,

Enjoyed a lovely evening of prompt, attentive but never intrusive service alongside excellent if somewhat predictable French fare. The ambience and decor or Bonaparte are nearly perfect for its Old Montreal meets Auberge crisp sensibility. Heavy on the staff (appropriately so) and attention to prompt seating, drink and starter service. Lovely "bouquets" of bread alongside a short but thoughtful champagne... More

We arrived for our reservation late. Were pressed for time as we had a concert to attend. They helped us through to make it on time. But we had an epicurean delight dinner. I had the best onion soup ever, made like a soup and not like a block of cheese. Then I had bison cooked perfectly and presented to... More

This was one of the best restaurants we visited in Montreal! We had the most lovely dinner with incredible service. This has to be one of the top places to go for a romantic dinner in the city. Each course was perfect and the amount of food was right. It was pricey but well worth it!

Pretty restaurant with excellent food. Five of us had appetizers, entrees and desserts, and there wasn't a bad plate in the lot. Desserts were everyone's favorite. Service was some of the best I've ever had in Montreal. They were very attentive but not annoying. Everyone agreed that they would love to return. Next time I am back in town it... More

Four of us had dinner there the other night. All four meals were excellent. Ambiance was very pleasant, in all, a very nice experience. Highly recommended. My wife enjoyed her pork tenderloin with a berry sauce. I had an excellent veal chop. A friend had a bison hangar steak he raved about.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
