Pretty setting, excellent service, great tasting menu

Had a really nice meal here. The staff was very welcoming, and we were seated at a really nice table overlooking the street. We both chose the degustation menu, which enabled us to try many different dishes between the two of us. We had the lobster bisque which was just OK (no visible lobster... read more

We went to Bonaparte for dinner with Tauck Tours. We had a special limited menu because of our larger group (although our group was split into smaller tables which was nice). My absolute favorite was the Vanilla Flavored Seafood Stew with a Pasta Swirl. I especially liked the Salmon Fillet with the Vanilla Sauce - it was perfectly prepared &... More

We has a great meal here, one person had Steak, one had Duck and one had Lamb so we had quite the variety. Service and ambience were excellent. When the check came we got a bit of sticker shock but that was probably because we did not hold back on cocktails or wine and the tax there is about 15%... More

This was our favorite restaurant on our Montreal visit. The food was superb! We had the 3 course prix fixe menu, and it was quite a good value for the quality of food! It is a lovely restaurant with a thoughtful, helpful staff. Could not recommend it more!

Loved Bonaparte. Went here based on the TripAdvisor reviews, and so glad we did. As others mention, you really feel like you are in a Parisian restaurant. The service is excellent (we enjoy the slower pace!) and the food is outstanding! You have your choice of a la carte, seasonal menu, or a tasting menu. We all went with a... More

had a fabulous meal with excellent service - felt like a Parisian restaurant. winelist is excellent with diverse offerings. full bar, even had my brand of liquor...the only downside was the sticker shock when the tab was finalized - worth it but not a particularly good value

Lively atmosphere, friendly service, food is very good, but the pacing/time between courses was a bit slow. If you like chocolate souffle then the chocolate chip souffle is a must try. Seems light, but tasty.

We spent in that restaurant over 3 hours, quite a long dinning experience. Some of us had a tasting menu, some regular - which was very cool that they could do that. Service was very good, crowd - a bit older , atmosphere relaxing. A must have mushroom ravioli - the best I have tried so far!!!

This restaurant is simply one of the best. Wonderful service and food. We had been to this restaurant in 2010 and returned as we were fairly certain we wouldn't be disappointed. We went for our 25th anniversary this year and both had the tasting menu. At $74 each (I believe), it is worth every penny. Just sit back, order some... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
