Even more amazing!

One of my favourite chef has moved to another restaurant, l'Autre Version, and he's still making amazing stuff! Now with even more experience, he comes up with even crazier concepts, a mix between Canadian, French, Skadinavian, Italian, and Asian cuisine. Not to be missed!

Very nice and charming restaurant with a cosy terrace at the back. The food is great and made from local products. The wild mushrooms plate is beautifully presented and the taste... Amazing!! The Chef Samuel Sauvé-Lamothe is definitely a reason for this restaurant new success. A place to discover!

My companions lunch specials were beautifully plated. The grilled vegetables were eggplant medallions with goat cheese on grilled baguette and a side of salad though for $15 it was not so special. The grilled bread was chewy tough. I ordered the smelts which were fried to perfection crackling crunchy and savory and served with a side salad for $10. Though... More

stylish modern decor with old stone wall accents make for a fashionable setting on Montreal's oldest street, Rue St. Paul. Menu changes frequently, so check their website, restoversion.com. Presentations are artful and unusual. I started with pan of wild mushrooms on sea lettuce with thyme smoke, which were rich and intense, a quick trip to mushroom heaven. Lightly smoked rainbow... We were walking around Vieux Montréal considering having a bite on a patio but couldn't decide when we stumbled upon this place. It wasn't busy but we appreciated the privacy. We ordered the $15 express lunch and it was on point! Small soup and sandwich. Also had a red wine sangria, it was also quite nice. We sat on the... More

We waited a long time for our mains as the couples around us who had arrived after us got theirs and then ours turned out to be cold and tasteless. John's main had exactly the same sauce as his starter. The sauce was poured over a cold piece of fish with a few capers! My supreme de volaille was a... More

Seriously, Had to find our server to get a drink. No follow up to see if the food was alright and had to walk to the front to get our bill.

My husband and I were looking for a restaurant that was not too touristy. We decided to try this place on the spur of the moment. The food was beautifully presented. The quality of the food was super fresh. We started with the asparagus and razor clam appetizer. It looked like a work of art and the taste was awesome.... More

The new management and team has taken this restaurant to a whole new level of culinary experience. New style cuisine with refined look. The wine list is extensive and well thought out. Quite expensive buy the backyard terrace might just be worth it.

We went there on New Year's eve, and the tasting menu was simply divine - it had all we liked: beef, sea food, foie gras... The only thing is that they did not offer matching wine option.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
