Looking for a casual, unpretentious blues/jazz bar for drinks or dinner while in Montreal? Look no further and delve into this comfy street level bar, sit back, relax and enjoy the consistently great entertainment that is offered nightly! We returned 3 times and will make it a ritual on future visits to montreal!

we saw a Brazillian jazz artist at the 9:15 show on a Tuesday night. We loved that it was actually downstairs in this stone carriage house and we had a nice table. We ordered dessert which we saw our neighbors having which was delicious. The profiteroles, the creme brulee were terrific. had a nice glass of wine and some drinks.... More

My wife and I went to Montreal for our 1 year wedding anniversary and we always wanted to go to a Jazz club. After searching trip advisor we found this little gem. We made reservations a week in advance for the Saturday show. We made them an hour before the show began so we could eat and relax before the... More

We were eager to experience the Montreal jazz scene and decided to hit the Upstairs for some music and eats. There are a few tables outside the door that lead to steps bringing you downstairs (thus explaining the upside down sign). The interior reminded us of a smaller version of Jules Bistro in the East Village of NYC: laid back,... More

Wonderful, intimate jazz club, which serves good food. We went along without a reservation on a Wednesday night & were lucky enough to get the last table. Great musicians, very relaxed & friendly. Excellent & discrete service, which does not spoil your enjoyment of the music. We were only in Montreal for 1 night, I am so pleased we chose... More

The setting is a quintessential jazz club, but the food was so much better than we expected. the setting was intimate and romantic. We were able to sit in the back of the room with an excellent view of the stage. We both had the filet which was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of black pepper on... More

Our Montreal friends made reservations to bring us to this cozy little bistro during the height of the jazz festival. Despite the crowds you would expect on a busy Saturday night, we were seated promptly, at a great table, and looked after perfectly by our waiter, Octavio. All of our drinks, starters and meals were excellent and reasonably priced. Somewhat... More

Here's a tip - you can attend the last set of any evening free! I did so at 11:30 PM and heard some of the best jazz I've experienced.

If you like live jazz music and cocktails, this is a very good place to go. Sure, this does not come for free since there is an entry fee (it was C$16.5 per person for a Saturday evening - not excessive). All in all, the music was good, the service (at the bar) very friendly; we had 2 cocktails, 2... More
