Sometimes you have to wait, but when you've the smoked meat in your mouth, you understand why... It's just smoked as it has to be...and you have choice of the fat degree..So even Anny find way to eat their speciality and she finds it good... The pickleq are good and the cole slaw not so bad. Attention, no alcoholic beverage.

Simply amazing, It's the best place to eat. It's not fancy, or a place for your first date for sure, but if you want good eat, this is the place. I can't recommend it more. Order the big place with their amazing pickles.

My husband and I visited Montreal for our anniversary and were told to stop in at this place for lunch. We took the advice to go before 11:30 and got a table and service immediately. By the time we left it was a line out the door though! I am usually not a red meat gal but this smoked meat... More

So, ... put aside the Celine Dion takeover , ... the smoked meat is so good, you should plotz! This is a trilingual (French/English/Yiddish) deli that would put anywhere in NY to shame for food and atmosphere. With tongue firmly planted in cheek, we asked for the ONLY single table (right next to the kitchen, btw!) because it looked *romantic*,... More

I have been going to Schwarts from time to time for the last 40 years. Do not expect to lounge around. If you want lunch, best show up around 11h30 to get a table. It is very quick but the smoke meat melts in your mouth. They also have take out which I also take advantage of.

Definitely a no-frills type of place; it's busy and they move you in and out pretty quickly but there's a lot of character and the meat is delicious. They'll suggest a meal for you- sandwich, fries, pickle and a drink- but everything is priced separately and you'll probably end up with more than you wanted. Unless you're really hungry I... More

Maybe my wife and I did not read the fine print. We went to Schwartz's, a Montreal institution, expecting a really good traditional Jewish Deli. It's not. Schwartz's specializes in smoked meat to the exclusion of everything else. They don't offer smoked fish, chopped liver, roast turkey and the list of what they don't offer goes on. Their smoked meat,... More

Main deli or Schwartz’s.. Simple follow my lead and buy one sandwich at each location.. Then sit down and do a taste test. If you have been eating at Schwartz’s for 40 years like I have you will have noticed Schwartz is living of it’s reputation. Once the king of all smoked meat and now the bottom of the pile..... More

I remember the first time I went in 79 and the sandwich was huge! In 82 I noticed it getting smaller. In 85 I said never again. this past weekend I took my husband who had never been and we will never go again I put more meat on the sandwich i make at home!!!
