As NYers we were told we had to check out the Deli of Montreal. While I would not say it rivals Katz's, it was worth the trip. We got there around 11am on a Saturday and did have to wait in line outside but it wasn't a terrible wait. We ultimately sat at the counter since it was just the... More

After all the hype and the 20 minute wait for uncomfortable table -- they are all uncomfortable -- we were served the house specialty - smoked meat - corned beef really. It was okay -- not good, not bad. The waiter was friendly so helped to make it a pleasant experience.

The meat in the sandwich was very tasty but I had to pick the fat off the meat. The rye bread with a bit of mustard tasted dry. $1.95 for one pickle is exorbitant. The decor is shabby but authentic which is not to everyone's taste. I liked it.

I had in my life. Must wait for it (line almost always) but totally worth it. A definite must when visiting Montreal. And if you can stay. Take it to go.

There is two entrances to schwartzs. One is to the diner, which is extremely long. The other is the take out which has a few seats to eat at, which also has a long line but moves quick. I chose the take out. The smoked meat is very thick with little bread. They actually give you a bit more meat... More

Old style deli, probably has not changed in decades. Has excellent service, the people were very helpful and nice. We bought two brisket sandwiches for about $16 total and they were excellent. Ate them on Mont Royal which is nearby. Very little room inside.

A recent visit to Montreal made a trip to Schwartz's Deli a mandatory stop. And what a disappointment that was. Ordered the smoked meat plate, a rather pricy proposition that arrived at the counter with a glob of meat in the centre surrounded by a few slices of pre-cut light rye bread. The pre-cut detail is important, as the bread... More

I went to Schwartz's two days ago and not at a particularly busy time (was still full though), so managed to find a seat at the counter immediately. I didn't know what to order so the friendly waiter and the locals I sat next to gave me a quick briefing. I ended up having a sandwich with medium meat, chips... More

I'm not gonna say very bad service. The waiter was very funny, kept to ask me, are you very hungry? Because I ordered 2 smoke meat... More

I heard a lot about this place so I said I must try it. There was a long line, but it was advancing at a dissent speed so I waited. I ordered the smoked meat house specialty. WOW that was so good I want to the store next by and bought some home. I never knew a simple bread-mustered-meat combo... More
