Option in the Center

Good italian food in the center city but the prices are not for the day by day. I had a Gnocchi in the Style of Sorrento, it was really good.

Average food and high prices. Be prepared: the waiter will follow you outside for an 'additional (!) amount that is not on the bill. it creates a bad feeling in your stomach.

I had no great expectation when I chose this restaurant to dine. I sat at the outdoor area with a friend, we ordered the starters, and then the spectacle began. Food was incredible fresh and delicious, service was attentive and wine was very nice. Once in Montreal, I strongly recommend you to go to ristorante Bis, and ask for the... More

Don't get me wrong, Ristorante Bis does serve excellent food but to my palate, I can only give it a grade one-notch lower. I am somehow not wow'ed by the food here. Service is top-notch, with the food piping hot and well-presented when it arrives. My other criticism is the exorbitant mark-up of the bottles on their wine list. Be... More

The fact that George Clooney once ate at Bis Ristorante was enough to make us want to try it out! This is a small, cozy restaurant that caters to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free customers in addition to standard Italian options. The restaurant was flexible when we needed to change our reservation time, and both the service and quality were excellent.

Arrived in Montreal yesterday and the concierge at the Vogue Hotel recommended Bis for dinner. What a treat. All of the staff were very friendly, attending to our every need. The food was outstanding, from the bread, to the pistachio crusted goat cheese appetizer, and our 2 mains - osso buco with the most devine risotto Milanese and one of... More

We felt this was just an average dining experience. We had pasta dishes that were good but not exceptional or interesting. Felt that the wine and the dinner were very expensive for the quality and atmosphere

We tried Bis while in Montreal recently, and this place did NOT dissapoint! I read some good reviews on Trip Advisor (or course!), so we gave them a try. Catherine was our server. She was VERY professional, and kept courses coming at a good pace-but not too fast-just right. They have an excellent wine list-we ordered a red Pinot Noir... More

Enjoyed a very good dinner at Bis with a party of 6. Initially wasn't thrilled with a makeshift table placement adjacent to the service bar in what felt more like a corridor as opposed to the dining room. Ultimately this issue was overshadowed by attentive and kind service and excellent food. I should note that other tables seemed to enjoy... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
