great atmosphere

We attended the restaurant which is just up the street from the bell Centre where the hockey team plays. I have eaten here a few times in the past 3 years. The service has been excellent every time I have been there. I had the chillean sea bass this time and it was excellent. The wine selection is... read more

I have dined here as a couple or with a group. the atmosphere is excellent and service personal and welcoming. The food is authentic and beautifully cooked. The extra touches are very welcome. The meat ball amuse bouche, whole walnuts and nut crackers at the end of the meal are fantastic as well as the biscotti. I live in Montreal... More

Our party of four ladies out for a night on the town in Montreal, searching desperately for a place that would take a late (10 pm) reservation and also offer gluten free options. Ristorante Bis not only gladly welcomed us with open arms, but provided exceptional hospitality. We were given complimentary coat check as well as appetizers. The specials were... More

I went to restaurant Bis with a client. The atmosphere was good. The service was friendly and efficient. I had a very good pasta dish. I would go back just to have that dish again!

Actually went before March '14, but found the place dark, crowded, very expensive for what you got, ordinary meal, and seemed to be a place to go 'to be seen'. Not worth it for us, definitely, and we'll not return any time soon.

Spoke to both Aldo and Marcelo which were very accommodating and managed to squeeze us in for Valentine's dinner. The service was amazing, the young lady read the specials and was making me salivate because everything sounded so good. We ordered appetizers and for our main dish, the Chillean Sea Bass was delicious. My fiancé ordered meat with pasta in... More

My daughter and I were staying at a nice hotel in Montreal. We eat gluten free. The hotel recommended Bis. We talked to the owner before we went who assured us everything would be fine. When we got there, he personally greeted us, showed us to our table, and talked to us about the food options. We had the filet... More

We like BIS. Interesting menu with good value, refined if you feel like it. Service is not always the same, then mention it and it comes back to normal. Many regular clients. Good food.

After making a horrible error in judgment waiting to make reservations until the very last minute on New Years Eve, my boyfriend and I ended up calling around the city for over an hour for reservations. Nobody was courteous or helpful throughout Montreal until we spoke to the people at Ristorante Bis. They offered us a reservation, though later than... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
