Very Fine Place

Bis offers a sophisticated menu and service. We arrived late from New York and enjoyed our dinner very much. The food was sophisticated and well presented.

Our party of five came out of this lunch business meeting with a great taste in their mouth. The service was prompt yet not intrusive. All the staff were pleasant and attentive. The food was served to perfection and the bowl of walnuts with the nutcrackers was a great idea to cleanse the palette before desert.

Bis has been my place to go to for the last 12 years when in Montreal whether with colleagues on business trips or during a romantic getaways with that one special person. I have also gone there for an early dinner with a young family member. If you are looking for a traditional Italian dinner with Montreal/European ambience and impeccable... More

Had great food at Bis. Tried the salmon, pasta, and vongole which were all excellent. I don't typically had dessert but I ordered the profiteroles which were soo delicious filled with ice cream and chocolate sauce. The only comment would be to have tenured servers as I ordered a plain pasta for my daughter and turned out the sauce was... More

For me, a restaurant has to have two things: Excellent food and great service. Bis has both. I have taken my sweetie their several times and in fact it is the first restaurant that we go to when we are staying in Montreal. The food is excellent. We often eat the special and have desert items that are "off" the... More

My meal (seafood with pasta) was an average meal that anyone can cook at home. The sauce was ok, not too much seafood, mostly pasta. My partner ordered meat with pasta and also ended up eating a lot of pasta. What a disappointment, considering the amount of great ratings.

Visited with 3 Colleagues - two of us had lamb linguini, another the spaghetti bolagnaise and the other the lamb shank with risotto. All meals were excellent, as was the service - very professional and well done. The atmosphere matched perfectly to what I thought a great French Italian restaurant would be.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
