There's a reason Forbes Magazine named us one of the Top 10 Steakhouses in the world. And why Moishes has become a Montreal favorite that has endured over 70 years. We think it's the authentic taste of each one of the old world favorites on our menu. If you're an old friend, welcome back. We're always delighted to see you. We couldn't have come this far without you. If you haven't yet, we warmly invite you to discover the taste for yourself, at our restaurant overlooking historic Saint-Laurent Boulevard (The Main.)

Best steaks in the world

This is the best classical steak house i have been too. A more paris brasserie setting , but the meat is delicious. They have their own herb mixture that is super. Last time i could buy it in a store, but not this time.

Very good steakhouse, one of the bests, one of the bests meals in Montreal. The meat is fantastic, only comparable to Morton's in Singapore. To have better than this you have to be in Tokyo and spent three times more, even if Moishe's is not cheap. The wine list is very good and staff with lots of character but do... More

We recently visited as part of a large group. The service was excellent, the food so good, the drinks delicious. We had our children with us and ther servers were good with them, but I wish I had known ahead of time how big the steaks were. They are the size of a plate, so all the sides come on... More

Went there to spend a night in Montreal with my wife. Very stylish and very expensive place. Do not fall for "after 9 pm" menus option: nothing to eat and still costly. We should use a regular menu and have a normal meal. Regarding the service: waters are tamed so well and run so fast - I saw something like... More

3 of us ordered the most expensive steaks - $80 USDA Ribeye - all 3 arrived Luke warm - plates cold - we all ordered medium - after 2 bites we sent them back - they then returned having simply thrown them on the grill a few minutes. They apologized, replaced our sides which had cooled off. They were apologetic... More

I went with a group of 6, and the best meal anyone ordered was the chicken. Not how I want to rate a steakhouse. Although I had a great night, it was due to the company I was with rather than the food.

One of the more arrogant restaurants when it was in its heyday. The pickles and cole slaw are still good but the steak ....not so good. Tough and stringy and 3 out of 4 of us did not enjoy our steak. Nothing to be arrogant about nowI won't be back!

The changes to a landmark restaurant like “Moishe’s” steakhouse in Montreal have escalated recently. Both my wife and I have been regular patrons for many years, 60 and 45 years respectively. You get accustomed to many things in that period of time and expect them whenever you return. We choose Moishe's for family celebrations. This past Sunday we celebrated our... More

I asked for a medium-rare filet mignon and it came out dry, grey and a pink centre. The side of asparagus tasted of strong vinegar. Our waiter, George, didn't really care what I thought. He also would never check up on us during the meal, but when he did decide to come around I would comment on the food he... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
