Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting encompasses two intimate floors and sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

Nice jazz, nice atmosphere, disappointing lamb

They have fried calamari on the menu, so I specifically asked if it was battered in any way "so it's like grilled calamari with nothing on it". Yes was the answer. I guess "breaded" is different than "battered" because it was coated and deep fried. No problem. They took it away. The replacement... read more

A perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. It is rare to find a place with good live music that also serves exceptional food, but you get that here. We ate at Modavie three years ago, and it left an impression so we wanted to try it again. I was thrilled to find delicious vegetarian fare with a bowl of cream... More

My wife and I took a short getaway to Montreal and wanted to have a few good nights of feasting. Modavie was highly recommended on TripAdvisor and we're suckers for a nice bistro. We were welcomed warmly (book a reservation as this place was already full at 7) and given a nice comfy table with ample arm room. Rachel was... More

We were warmly welcomed by Lorenzo when we arrived. Lorenzo was charming and made us feel at home. We had plenty of time to sample the appetizers and cocktails. The Negronis were the best we ever had and the French Manhattan was divine. Salmon Blini was fantastic, rilletes was scrumptious. After a short break we moved on to lamb. Braised... More

We had heard about this place before arriving in Montreal. We were given prime seating after telling Lorenzo we were on our honeymoon. The live music makes for a great vibe and the food of course was delicious. We awesome great service and can't wait to go back. Such a great place!!!!

We traveled to Quebec for our honeymoon in December, and we stopped in Modavie as we were walking through Vieux-Montreal. We were told by our server that the chef's specialty is lamb, so I ordered the lamb chops. My husband had the sea bass. It was probably the best meal I've ever had. We still think about it sometimes. We... More

Beginning of February we travelled to Montreal for the weekend and so glad we ate at this restaurant. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and the atmoshpere was top notch. Highly recommend stopping in for drinks and dinner.

We had a very good meal on a Monday night. 5 of us were served promptly and courteously. The calamari was excellent and the octopus salad was wonderful. We all had lamb; they offer it in many variations and all were prepared very well. The live music, a jazz singer with bass guitar accompaniment was superb. Great vocals but most... More

Modavie is a restaurant - jazz bar located in the Old Port of Montreal. We made our reservation online, using the Open Table portal. Our table was ready when we arrived, and we were promptly greeted by the hostess and brought to our table upstairs, where the jazz trio was playing. Our server was friendly and courteous throughout. We started... More
