On holiday from Australia and meeting up with our Boston based son in Montreal we decided to spend our last evening together dining at the Modavie restaurant in Rue St-Paul Ouest. The wine list was extensive and international. Two of us chose the fixed menu which was good value considering the quality of the three courses. There was a singer... More

I love restaurants that have the Table d'hote (set menu) because it makes ordering so much easier. The food was okay, truthfully nothing very spectactular, however the ambiance was amazing. There was live jazz music playing in this small restaurant that was very rustic looking and with the candlelit tables, it was very relaxing and enjoyable. I would recommend this... More

We visited Modavie on Sunday 14th Sept, our final meal in Canada. The food was excellent- I had a delicious risotto and a beautiful tart tatin. Our waitress Rachel and the patron Lorenzo were extremely attentive and helpful. A lovely meal to end our holiday.

The concierge at our hotel recommended this nearby spot and everything hit the mark! The relaxed bistro style with live jazz in the background was a perfect ending to our three nights in Montreal. The host, Lorenzo, is enthusiastic, gregarious and anxious to please his guests. The food was fresh, flavorful and served at the appropriate temperature.

We just happened upon Modavie while walking around Old Montreal and decided to go in for lunch. We were warmly greeted by Lorenzo who seated us at a great table. We inquired about the jazz set for that evening and he reserved us another great table for that evening for dinner and jazz. Both the lunch and dinner meals were... More

From the moment we were warmly greeted by Lorenzo, to the time we settled our bill, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at mondavie. First, owner, manager, host, busboy, overseer and jack-of-all trades Lorenzo made us feel like we were dining in his own home. He and his staff were so very attentive to our needs and... More

The location in Old Montreal was great and had big windows to watch the nightlife. It was noted as a jazz place but when we were there the band was more like bluesy rock. We were wanting a nice quiet dinner for our first night of vacation. Service was a little slow..maybe French. This might have been ok except we... More

Easy dining and great food! Our waitress, Caroline, was especially helpful with my pescatarian dietary requests and helped me make a womderful selection. We had a great bottle of wine and my husband almost kicked the bowl of his mussels and pommels frites! I highly recommend this restaurant which was recommended to us by a local.

We hadn't reserved but had a very warm welcome from Lorenzo who despite being busy found us a table. Yen, our waitress was exceptional in her efforts to attend to us with a lovely smile and attitude. Our meals were excellent in quality and satisfaction.
