Modavie's spirited setting encompasses two intimate floors and sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

We had a wonderful last meal in Montreal. A complete surprise. The music, food and service were 1st rate and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did. The duck appetizer, onion soup and mussels entree were equal in quality to similar dishes we've had in Europe. Highly recommend

My husband and I went to Modavie to celebrate my birthday on October 25, 2014. We were greeted at the door by the owner, Lorenza, who has a wonderful sense of humour. We sat upstairs where the music was. It was difficult to hear th words being sung because of the chatter in the room but it was still enjoyable.... More

My expectations were too high after reading the glowing TA reviews. Came here for a Saturday dinner. We were seated downstairs. The jazz artist/singer that night was not very good. We ordered the salad with egg and lardon, steak frittes and the recommended lamb chops. They must have run out of frizze salad or escarole because they used mixed greens... More

If you’re looking for a good jazz bar, you can disregard my "average" rating, skip the rest of this review, and make your reservation at Modavie with confidence, as the band playing on our Saturday-night visit was first-rate, and the cocktails very well made. However, our objective was simply to find a good restaurant in Old Montreal we hadn't yet... More

My boyfriend and I spent Thanksgiving Weekend in Old Montreal to visit my Aunt. For dinner we took my Aunt and my Mother to Modavie because we heard good reviews about this restaurant. We had reserved in advance which was a good thing because this place is packed! We were greeted at the door by Lorenzo and were shown to... More

We sat at the bar and had a drink and appetizer while listening to jazz. It was a delightful experience!

My beautiful wife and I spent a few days in vieux Montreal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. For supper, we went to Modavie because we heard good reviews for the place. We were shown to our table close to the live jazz, but a table by the window opened up shortly after we ordered. I asked the maitre d'hotel if... More

I was there to celebrate my anniversary with my husband. The live jazz music was wonderful. The place was packed. I feel that there were too many tables crowded together and that the waitresses were having a hard time keeping up. Therefor, the serviced was compromised. My husband had the scallops and the lamb(their specialty) and loved it. I had... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights recently visiting Montreal for our anniversary. We spent 2 of the 4 nights at Modavie located on a cobblestone street in old Monreal. We enjoyed everything about this lovely little old world bistro. From being warmly greeted and welcomed by the owner, Lorenzo, to the cozy atmosphere, the decor -- mix of beautiful... More
