We had the steak with mushroom sauce one night and the duck shepherds pie another- the latter was the best and very different. Because of the positive reviews on tripadvisor we decided to eat at Les Deux Gamins (did you know it roughly translates to "the Two Kids?). It was an excellent choice in our part. The walk from our hotel was a little longer than anticipated with one killer hill but it was worth it. We had reservations but I don't think... More

We ate at an outdoor table on a beautiful night. The restaurant is located on Prince Arthur which is a pedestrian only street. The food ranged from ordinary to very good. I had the fois gras appetizer and duck l'orange entree. Both were good, nothing more. They had three champagnes listed on the menu. Of course, they only had the... More

From the moment we arrived, to the end of the dinner, we were greeted warmly and attentively by our servers. There were only two and instead of each one working on his or her tables only, they worked together as a team and worked beautifully. Food was fantastic. Nothing pretentious or super fancy. Just homely French bistro fares. Between the... More

Les Deux Gamins we ate here four years ago and my husband and I never remember the name nor street of this great restaurant. All we remembered was the street was closed off to traffic. The food was good, but not great. Servers were very nice and good paced service. My husbands onion soup was very good and he liked his fillet mignon. I had the flank steak which was cooked properly but it wasn't a great piece of beef. The French fries and crime brûlée were very good.

Thank you for the review, we are glad you enjoyed your food, wait staff and overall experience. Returned to Rue Prince Albert for our anniversay dinner as we ate here after we became engaged 18 years ago. From the ratings, this restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. The food (steak) was ok, worth the price, just. Atmosphere was very disappointing. On the surface, it seems very romantic.... professional buskers playing music down the street, wrought... More

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy you enjoyed your meal, and congratulations on your anniversary. We are rather surprised by your dislike of our bistro, the graffiti wall to which you refer is actually a commissioned mural done 3 years ago and included in the recent Montreal mural tour. Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
