Good flavors

We had two very nice dishes: butter chicken and Lamb Daal. Both were quite flavorful, esp the lamb (the chicken would be good for safe eaters) and came withots of big chunks of meat. It's a tad pricey $30-ish for mains, but it is downtown. Nothing to creative or innovative but a good Indian meal... read more

Great authentic Indian lunch buffet and very reasonable price. Salmon curry sauce was so so delicious and generous. Must be there early to get seat or later.

Good no-nonsense buffet lunch at reasonable prices in popular Downtown risto. The place is extra busy for lunch so booking is essential. Quite a few salads. Two meat dishes, three cakes options and a fruit salad. I loved the soup best. Service is fast -paced but not inattentive. Manager keeps a close eye on the buffet to make sure selection... More

Our big group of 10 was recommended this place as one of the fine Indian restaurants in Montreal. We ordered a mixed appetizer plate for all that consisted of a samosa, veg pakora and chicken malai kabab. This was the highlight. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the samosa and pakora were delicious. The main courses ordered were butter... More

Buttery naan, flavorful rice, and sweet/rich butter chicken! They get really busy on weekends, so get reservations. Servers are very nice.

Frequented Le Taj many times over a 4 month period when I was working in Montreal. The food is good, in fact very good and authentic. The service is friendly, accommodating and unintrusive.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge for the lunch buffet. We got there at 11:30am when the restaurant opened but were turned away from the empty restaurant because we didn't have reservations.

Le Taj is a very fine Indian Restaurant in downtown Montreal. It was recommended by the hotel concierge and the Trip Advisor reviews were also quite good. The food was delicious - we had Lamb Tikka and Beef Korma, both nicely spiced. The Beef Korma had a lovely creamy sauce. I was very happy to find they had salty lassi.... More

Been coming here for years, and service & food are always consistently great. The decor is also very nice. Not your typical Indian restaurant decor. Modern & cosy.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
