My husband and I had a great date night at this lovely restaurant in downtown Montreal. We both love Indian food - my husband has spent a lot of time in India and I love to cook curry, so we have very high expectations. Le Taj did not disappoint in the slightest. We explained our likes to the waiter in... More

The food is wonderful. We were there on New Year's day and in addition to their regular menu there was a tasting menu. We ordered the menu and it was a great choice of dishes to show the restaurant at it's best.

I went there for a dinner with my wife during my stay in Montreal. It was just walkable distance from my hotel. Very good food and nice ambience.

We have been going to Le Taj since they first opened in 1984 and can honestly say we have never been disappointed with the quality of the food, the quantity, the service and the price! The naan bread is excellent, their curries are flavourful and the spices are perfect. If you want spicier, let the waiter know and they will... More

The service was exceptional - speedy and friendly, while the food was delicious. Restaurant was packed and likely for good reasons.

I go to this all you can eat buffet resto for the food and the service. Situated in the heart of downtown Montreal, it offers crazy delicious Indian food at a price that everyone could afford. Oh, service is so good, you will be so glad. Go there if it's not your day, the experience will put a smile on... More

We've been here many times, always for the buffet lunch. It's not a huge buffet, but there is a good selection and the quality is always excellent. The restaurant is not large, but we've always managed to get a table, even though they are always quite busy. Service is polite and professional, decor is tasteful. We visit every time we're... Firstly, the restaurant is located in the center of downtown Montreal. It has been beautifully renovated, and the service is first class. You do however pay for this luxury, with high prices. Two main dishes, rice, and naan bread with two tiny desserts, came to $66. The buffet is a more affordable option. The atmosphere was very nice, as was... More

The reason I had wanted to go there is because I had heard such great things about this place and although a bit more expensive then your usual indian curry house, it was saturday night and I wanted something classier. First the decor is perfectly what we were looking for, then things became a bit disapointing, first although we were... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
