Great restaurant!

The food here is delicious but what really makes this restaurant wonderful is the great service and enjoyable ambiance. The aloo gobi and the bhindi masala are divine. Spicy, but in the perfect way. We also ordered samosas which came with a variety of sauces and were excellent!!

No disappointment or bad surprises each time we go there. We have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and each and every time we were quite happy with the service, cleanliness and quality of food. The Indian dark beer is also highly recommended.

Pleasantly surprised. I expected the fancy expensive restaurant. It was a pleasant service with an open buffet. The buffet was decent without being extravagant. The surprise came at the exit. $55 + tip all inclusive for two lunch buffet. Very fair in my opinion. For those who like Indian cuisine, it is a recommended place in my opinion.

We have been coming here for years. The food is sublime. Indian and Pakistani friends have told us it is as good as their Moms can make at home or even better. Excellent service with helpful explanations if requested. Family owned and operated.

My wife and I have been loyal clients of Le Taj for about two years. Usually ordering the same things we like , Tandoor chicken ,aloo gabi , curried vegetables with rice and nan bread .So it was really upsetting when after finishing our meal I could almost feel my stomach turning ! I was really surprised and when I... More

Hello mgaty, I would like to start by saying that it is quite unfortunate that you had this experience at our restaurant. I would also like you to know that we very much appreciate your loyalty for the past 2 years as clients at Le Taj. We looked into the date of your last visit and we found some other... More

I usually trek up to Jean Talon for Indian cause it's cheaper. Taj does have an affordable lunch buffet and is much more upscale than the rest of choices agenda than except for atma.

We had the pleasure of eating again at Le Taj a few weeks ago before a concert event, They are a few blocks from the Bell Centre and in a straight line on Stanley so easy to find. We shared 2 different chicken mains and added a pulao rice. No starters. I have a Gluten intolerance and love their tandoori... More

The title says all. I am not Indian but I love Indian food. Went to this restaurant with a friend for dinner. Despite the good service and ambiance, we did not really enjoy the meal there. It lacks the Indian kick. Overall, the restaurant is clean, convenient location, reasonable price. As for the food, it is a personal taste, so... More

On a cold night in February the restaurant is almost deserted. The staff are alternately scurrying about or talking amongst themselves. The moist tandoori chicken practically melts off the bone but the chutneys only arrive 20 min later. One of many servers offered to take my plate with 1/3 chicken yet to be eaten. Less than good service can spoil... More

Went on my own after looking at various Indian food options. Very pleased with the Feast I ordered. Best naan I have ever had and tandoori chicken was excellent. Nice ambiance and great service.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
