Try it for a change ..

Saturated from the typical dining and ready for a change, the Le Taj is a successful experience fir the Indian food ... Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and nice food .. Actually, it could be revisited when time comes for another change !!! ..

I ordered the menu for 34 CAD, which was way overpriced for the value: mediocre somosas with a composition of standard dips and a mix of lettuce, cabbage and cucumbers which had seen better days; the main dish consisted of a tame dahl, again a small, overdate salad mix, acceptable beef curry and excellent tasty naan; for dessert: a hot... The Tandoor chicken was tender and flavorful, Saag Paneer tasted of spinach and good Indian spice. You can taste the food and the spice both. Service was very good, and quick even as busy as the place was. Prices were very reasonable, appetizers less than $10 and entrees from $12 to $25.

Where to begin.. This place is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I always make sure to pass by at least once whenever I am back visiting Montreal. They have the most tender chicken you'll ever find. All their sauces are delicious. The naan bread is insane. Even their rice is great. My favorite dish... More

My wife and I ate here while on holiday in early June. It has become a must-do when we are in Montreal. We were working out which night we would book for a couple of weeks before we flew out of Scotland. The strange thing is that it is the only Indian restaurant that my wife has eaten in over... More

We happily stumbled across this place on the way back to our hotel, the Sofitel, and absolutely LOVED the food!!!! Our waiter was so engaging and the food was delish!!! We passed by hoards of bar type style restaurants or less than nice looking places when we were about to give up and ask our concierge when I saw the... More

We love Indian food, and were happy to find this little restaurant close to our hotel. However, we had the buffet for lunch and found it disappointing. There was nothing terribly wrong with it, it was just very bland. There was not nearly enough spice and seasoning. It's possible of course that this would be different if ordering from the... More

Excellent Indian food. I ate here twice in my visit to Montreal, once solo and once with colleagues. Over the time I and my colleagues had garlic naan, dal soup, chana masala, aloo ghobi, and saffron rice. Vegetarians will do very well, and so will vegans. Servers were helpful and quick to point to alternatives on the menu if asked.... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
