Great Dinner in Old Montreal

I ate dinner here with a group of colleagues on May.19, 2015. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with a really cute court yard filled with flowers (we had a table on one of the balconies); there was also wonderful jazz band playing the night I ate here. The service was excellent and the decor... read more

We happened to stumble across this beautiful outdoor cafe in Old Mintreal. It was a bit chilly but there were lots of patio heaters to keep us cosy. The setting is idyllic with high walls covered in flowers and vines. Huge umbrellas protect from rain or sun. We shared the cranberry salsa nachos. Incredible! A great choice for your visit... More

There are many good--not fine--restaurants along the main tourist street near the waterfront in the Old Town, but we especially liked Jardin Nelson. The salads were wonderful, and all the other dishes we saw looked good as well. Like many other places, we had, and took, the opportunity to sit near this pedestrian street so we could enjoy people watching... More

Had lunch there on a beautiful sunny day. This a great restaurant with spectacular service. Try the peach sangria, very good. This is a must if your in the old town of Montreal. Whether it be lunch or dinner make reservations, because this is a difficult table to get.

Normally when there is such a wide variety of items on the menu you figure they can't do any one well, but Jardin nelson does a very good job. Return here every time friends visit and it's always pleasant. Outdoors but protected from the elements. Great friendly staff, good diverse selection on the menu. I took the equivalent of Duck... We walked the riverfront in Old Montreal on day one of our conference trip and picked this place out of the many because of the pretty flower boxes on the street front. We were delighted to go back to the courtyard area and see live music and a beautiful seating area. Our server was very sophisticated and attentive. Best of... More

This oasis in the heart of Old Montréal in a perfect place to have a drink or a meal. Often, there will be a singer with musicians creating a very cool atmosphere. I often bring my guests there when visiting this so beautiful part of Montréal. The food is good and the bill is not so hight.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
