Over time we have been to this restaurant several times, ever since the old name was there, with the old principle. Then it went non-vegetarian and lost its appeal, its vegetarian choices were highly reduced and the food was more blunt. I went back a couple of months ago and it changed its image, there are again a lot of... More

Food is okay, ambience too, but the prices are ridiculous for the birdseed they fed you. Find another vegetarian restaurant,or order salad in a steakhouse.

This restaurant is a beacon for those who travel with people with special dietary needs. It is also quite acceptable for non-vegetarians and has many healthy and selection tasty selections, in case you are feeling a bit guilty from the previous evening's fine dining.

My husband and i ate at the commensal a few days ago before seeing a show in Montreal. It is not the first time we have eaten there, however it was the first time I realized how simple reliable veggie food was sometimes a necessary option. Especially during holiday season when most people tend to overeat. It is a no... More

This place is really different. Choose from the veggie buffet and pay for your food by weight. Big eaters pay more! A huge choice of imaginative hot and cold dishes and a very relaxed atmosphere. Downstairs is quieter. Recommended to us by a Quebecoise on the plane. It's in a really buzzy part of town, too.

You want to make sure to get vegetarian food: then you might try Le Commensal. You have no waiting time here, you just go to the buffet and serve yourself. However, you do not know how long the food is sitting there already. Salt and sugar is used a lot in Le Commensal, but if you like sweet things really... More

For vegetarians this is almost as close you can get to perfection! The location in downtown Montreal is perfect if you are visiting either downtown or McGill University. There is a lot of variety in food, from cold salads, warm entrees to pizza and deserts. Items with eggs are clearly marked. The seating area is nice and clean and overlooks... More

Aug 3, 2013. Le Commensal Rue St Denis. We have been there many times. The food has always been excellent. There is great variety of vegetarian food. All the food was wonderful to look at. Save room for desert, it's easy to overload your plate (it's self serve buffet style). It is a bit pricey there but the food is... More

We had our first Montreal meal at the venue on St. Denis a few blocks up from UQAM. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality, and by the desserts, and not so pleasantly surprised by the price. Most of the food is priced by weight and it is easy to run up the bill if you go in... More
