We were part of a group that dined here. The Szechuan menu was very large with a lot of choices. Our host ordered several dishes for the table to share. We had spring rolls, dumpling in peanut sauce, sautéed shrimp in a spicy sauce, a sliced chicken dish with crispy spinach, crispy beef in a sticky sauce with sesame, sautéed green... More

If you look at my profile, you will see that I love Asian, among others. There is no such thing as "Chinese food", just as there is no such thing as "Chinese language". Even more than France or India, the food and the language changes from province to province. L'Orchidee de Chine is eclectic. In northern China, the staple is... More

My friend and I ate here a few weeks go while visiting Montreal for the weekend. It was freezing that night and this place was around the corner and looked intriguing so we thought we'd check it out. We were greeted by the host as we walked in (we didn't have a reservation). As it was still relatively early they... More

The food is great. The Service is a bitover he top and it`s close to everything. It did take 15 minutes at the end just to get a bill from the waiter- but still way worth it

The hotel concierge sent us here. My boyfriend said we wanted good Chinese food. The concierge must have heard "overpriced" somewhere in our request. I won't deny the quality of our food was exceptional. However, as said by other reviewers you must order everything separately. Perhaps it's because I come from a small town without any fancy Chinese restaurants, but... More

Discreet Asian décor highlights this bustling and comfortable restaurant. There are plenty of delicious dishes on the menu; in fact, there's an extensive selection of classic Chinese fare and if you have a special request, they will gladly prepare it for you. The pleasant waitstaff is well-organized, so there always seems to be a waiter handy when you need something.

Established in 1984, L’Orchidée de Chine has been hailed as one of the best Szechuan restaurants in Montreal. I have eaten often at the Orchidee de Chine. For me, this is THE best chinese restaurant in Montréal. The owner, George Lau, is always present to ensure perfect service and solve any problem that could arise. I started with some lobster... 1. The food is way overpriced. 2. Everything is à la carte, even the rice. Some meat comes with plenty of vegetables and the menu says so, but the waitress told us we needed to order more vegetables anyway. What a waste of money! 3. The booth seats are extremely uncomfortable. 4. They only make one bill for the whole... More

Food was very good as was the service. Prices fair and reflected good quality. Highly recommended if you want a break from Montreal bistro fare.

We have been dining here from time to time for almost the past 30 years and never have been disappointed. It is our favourite Chinese restaurant in Montreal. George, the owner, has managed to maintain a high standard of cuisine and the service is always good. To get the best out of an evening ask Eva (George's sister) for help... More
