Taken out for lunch by an old friend who had stumbled across this place by accident - he had been able to book a lunch table on line and they were expecting us thankfully as reserved . This place was buzzing - absolutely full on a friday lunchtime. We were seated at the bar until called to our table but... More

It's clear that a lot of people who come to eat here are out-of-towners and tourists seeking a taste of Paris and they get just that, right down to the menu in six languages and the big bill at the end. The room is small with high ceilings so you don't get drowned in noise, even if it's full. The... More

Went for dinner on a Tuesday during high tourist season. The hotel desk clerk recommended it when we asked for a good French meal, moderately priced, and not full of tourists. This place was perfect! It is on a street full of bistros and boutiques that are frequented by locals, not tourists. We arrived (family of 4) at 5:30 and... More

L'Express was recommended to me by a friend. I had to wait 3 nights before they could accommodate a reservation, but on arrival, the ambiance appeared to make it worth the wait. All of the servers were men, in traditional black and white outfits. The furniture, walls, ceiling, and lighting were obviously chosen with great care. Our server was highly... More

I was dining solo, and was sitting at the bar. But even there the waitstaff was responsive and attentive. The food was luscious - I had the os à la moelle and the tartare and both were done to perfection.

This restaurant is often on my to do list when visiting Montreal. It is the next best thing to being in Paris, even the staff are a bit aloof, the baguette is always fresh, and the butter nice and salty! However this last Saturday, with rain doing it's best to dampen our spirits, we got to the restaurant late. The... More

Went for dinner on a Saturday night in August 2014. A reservation is highly recommended. This was a great experience, not just a meal. You get the old school vibe, the place has wonderful ambiance. We had the steak frittes and shrimp risotto, and both were great! Excellent service.

Loved the dinner at L'Express. Traditional French Bistro with amazing food. The ambiance is laid back and cozy. Definitely worth making a reservation at this place.

Three of us had lunch on a Saturday; we had reservations, which were not necessary but placed us under a huge skylight, which was great. The food was very good, the "wine by the glass" was extensive and with fine selections and the waitress was efficient and charming. It truly felt like we were in Paris minus the attitude. It... More

A super duper bistro in Mont Royal. Great traditional French meals, even better specials made with local and seasonal ingredients. The desserts are gorgeous, and the Ile Flottante au Caramel is an absolutely stupendous treat- just make sure your dentist never finds out. No sign, just follow the happy noise and aromas to the busiest restaurant on Rue Saint-Denis.
