This is bistro food, I get it. Still, when the "rillettes" are so dry and cut so thin they taste like "pate" ; when "l'escalope de veau" is 6 mm thick and overcooked; when the fries are soggy ; when the "soupe a l'oseille" feels just like bitter green water ; you realise that the greatest experience of the night... Whenever we're in Montreal, we go to L'Express for dinner. Good room, particularly pleasant wait staff, interesting and reliable menu, reasonable prices. This time I had eggs with mayonnaise as a starter, rognons de veau, and maple syrup pie for dessert. By the way, service is quick and efficient without making you feel rushed; that's a trick many other restaurants... More

My partner and I just can back after an extended weekend in Montreal. We always eat here more than once and this time had dinner there twice. The atmosphere is so French and really nice to be in. The food on the standard menu and seasonal specials are consistently excellent. This time we had green asparagus as well as a... More

Last week was my fourth time of having rognons de veau in L'Express in Montreal over 10 years. I have given up on eating it elsewhere. In L'Express it is perfect. The bistro food at it's best. My wife enjoyed her arctic char. Sorrel soup was a bit under seasoned, but still pretty good.

L'Express is a great Bistro-style restaurant. One of the best places to bring out-of-towners to get a feel for a Montréal-style restaurant. The food is first-class and the ambience of the restaurant is fun and very Montréalais. I love their steak-frites. The restaurant can be a bit noisy at peak periods...but the place is a Bistro after all and one... More

Another excellent bistro located on St Denis -you will need the address to find it as there is no sign out front. Prices are reasonable and the menu has enough to please almost everyone. I had the shrimp risotto, it was very good and portion size perfect....the tartar was very tasty as well. Try their "Ile flottant" dessert, quite a... More

This dining experience will exceed your expectations in every way. Not only outstanding gourmet dining, refined menu of French classics, great service but an amazing value. You would expect to pay over $400 for a party of 4 Dining in similar caliber restaurant in Montreal or New York, where our bill at L ‘Express is always half of that. Ask... More

We went for lunch during the week and did make a reservation but probably could have gotten away without one. I got the cold roast beef, it was very good and a nice portion. The atmosphere in L'Express is always nice, buzzy but welcoming, the service is good and the space is bright and airy. Another in my party got... More

L'express is a very well known French restaurant in Montreal, since the 80s'. Reservations for evening dinner are sometimes required and hard to get. I strongly recommend to go for lunch; less people, quick service and excellent cuisine ! (I haven't been in the evening, so I can't compare) Lantilles & Chorizo soup = excellent Beef tartar = excellent Home-made... More

After a rather boring time over at a local jazz bar, it was time to satisfy the munchy craving. I was dying for the os de moelle of L'express and their tartare. Left the jazz bar around ten got to l'express and sat at the bar at 10.15pm The service was friendly and efficient. I believe I was in and... More
