This is one of (if not my favourite) restaurants in Montreal. I went with my boyfriend for the first time on a Monday night - reservation needed - and we had an exceptionally spectacular time. Not only is the atmosphere authentic, quaint and memorable, but the food left absolutely nothing to be desired. It was a great place for a... More

This is not a flashy, " nouvelle cuisine" restaurant ! This is just good food, excellent wines, careful service and a family like atmosphere ! Parisian like bistro but better and cheaper, your money is well spent there and it is always a pleasure to return. Certainly one of the best, and steadiest, restaurant in Montreal.

I fell in love with this restaurant during my trip to Montreal. I can attest that coming here without a reservation on the weekend is ill-advised, but the maitre'd will make every effort to accommodate walk-ins within a reasonable time frame. I am not very familiar with the Parisian bistro concept, but the food spoke it's own volumes. Our waiter... More

L'Express is a wonderful bistro in the Plateau district of Montreal. I dined at 10:30 PM on a Saturday night and the place was really hopping (reservations recommended). So many great things on the menu and I chose the "Rillettes" L'Express (duck pate) and the Shrimp Rissotto; both were delicious. The portions are generous so I did not have room... More

The food and service were great. I had the chicken in mustard sauce and my friend had the quail. We also got the chocolate tarte for dessert and it did not disappoint. I would get anything we had again; it was all delicious. The ambiance was great here too. We really enjoyed lingering over our meal with great wine.

Lovely food without being pretentious. First time I ate there (long time ago) I had pasta with chanterelle mushrooms and that just did it for me. Kidneys in mustard sauce were amazing. Pretty much every meal was very good. It just a gastronomic experience like any restaurant is supposed to be.

My wife and I come to Montreal every year and L'Express is always a spot we have to go to. Excellent French bistro food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service. You won't be disappointed.

L 'Express is a timeless restaurant offering classic fare. Great bread and gherkins to nibble on while you wait for your dinner. I had the duck confit salad (yummy) and my guest the shrimp risotto that she proclaimed the best ever. For dessert we shared the Ile Flottante a true old school classic treat of a poached meringue in a... More

A separate menu is in about six languages. If you can't read French, don't be concerned. For some reason I couldn't get New Jersey diner out of my mind. My wife and I had fish soup, vegetable soup, a bottle of wine, chicken liver pate (shared), chicken breast, grilled salmon with spinach, and a pear tart (shared). Nothing stood out... More
