The restaurant was recommended by our hotel, L'Auberge Napoleon, as both being excellent for it's food, and being open late, as we checked in rather late. The maitre d' got us seated right away. What can I say about L'Express that has not already been said? It is a "must" for any visitor to Montreal. The food is absolutely fantastic, the wine list is impeccable and I just love the atmosphere. No matter what you order (I usually go for the rabbit), you will not be disappointed. All their French delicacies are done to... More

Went to L'Express on the recommendation of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. It is a french bistro and actually feels like you're sitting in Paris eating. The don't have highchairs, but didn't seem to mind at all that we brought along our own booster chair. In fact, the servers went out of their way to try to entertain our young kids... More

We booked for Sunday lunch & it was just as well we did as the restaurant was full. Excellent service. We really enjoyed our lunch. I chose seabass as my main course which was tasty although there was too much oil on it for my liking. The crumble dessert was delicious. Good wine list & we found the menu very... More

Great french food in Montreal. We love the french bistro feel here and the food is good as well. Pickles and mustard on the table before dinner are a hit with the kids, too.

My wife and I had a late lunch here based on a recommendation of a business associate from Montreal. We had just walked spent the morning walking through Mont Royal on a cold but beautiful Montreal Saturday morning so we started off with some cappuccino and coffee to warm up. Next up were some great beat salads, lots of wonderful... More

This is one of (if not my favourite) restaurants in Montreal. I went with my boyfriend for the first time on a Monday night - reservation needed - and we had an exceptionally spectacular time. Not only is the atmosphere authentic, quaint and memorable, but the food left absolutely nothing to be desired. It was a great place for a... More

This is not a flashy, " nouvelle cuisine" restaurant ! This is just good food, excellent wines, careful service and a family like atmosphere ! Parisian like bistro but better and cheaper, your money is well spent there and it is always a pleasure to return. Certainly one of the best, and steadiest, restaurant in Montreal.

I fell in love with this restaurant during my trip to Montreal. I can attest that coming here without a reservation on the weekend is ill-advised, but the maitre'd will make every effort to accommodate walk-ins within a reasonable time frame. I am not very familiar with the Parisian bistro concept, but the food spoke it's own volumes. Our waiter... More

L'Express is a wonderful bistro in the Plateau district of Montreal. I dined at 10:30 PM on a Saturday night and the place was really hopping (reservations recommended). So many great things on the menu and I chose the "Rillettes" L'Express (duck pate) and the Shrimp Rissotto; both were delicious. The portions are generous so I did not have room... More
