Spiced up my evening!

Chao Phraya was a nice neighborhood find. We just stumbled upon it and were glad we did. The space has a upscale feel--good for a special evening out. The food was delicious. I had a vegetarian dish with the right amount of spice for me (moderate). My daughter enjoyed the pad Thai. The food is... read more

We celebrated new years eve dinner at this great Thai restaurant. I ate Thai for the first time here and have never stopped loving the food. Although I no longer live in Montreal, I continue to make a pilgrimage to chao praya for the best Thai food - especially those crab claws! Thank you for continuing to be so good.

Definitely a touch of class. The service, the decor, the food and the wine list can only upgrade this restaurant. Everything is presented with class. Very clean. The menu is appealing and the taste is succulent. Refined cuisine. Prices are very good; variety of soups, noodles, rice, sea food, poultry, red meat, vegetarian dishes, desserts....A good selection of wine. Very... More

The Chao Phraya is located on the trendy and chic rue Laurier Ouest (Ouest of Blvd. St Laurent) in Montreal close to Outremont. The food is super albeit pricy, the staff is friendly, bilingual (French/English) and acquillante. It is a bit away from downtown Montreal ... 20 minute cab ride.

One of my favourite thai restos in montreal. Have always loved going there for all our special events. They have had the best thai cuisine in montreal. I would give them a five star rating but during my last visit, I noticed a change in the food. Still good but was missing that subtle finesse that the previous owners were... More

I've been there for the first time and I thought the food was delicious. I had a lemongrass soup to start and a vegetarian curry with rice. I love Thai food and I was pleased with my meal. The location is great, service was pretty good. It was also very quick to get our meal. It's not the fanciest restaurant... More

Food and service are consistently great. Never had a bad experience, been here at least 10 times. The ambience is classy and nice. Great for an evening out with my family or for a business meeting. I recommend the following dishes: broccolli oyster sauce, tofu with ginger, red curry, peanut sauce..

I agree with the latest reviews, the restaurant is not what it used to be. The food just does not feel fresh, it seems that it comes from the freezer. We were a group of 4 and the four main plates we ordered had this same feeling. Too bad Montreal lost one of its best Thai restaurants.

Very nice restaurant in a part of town that makes it a real gem. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the menu choices were excellent. The prices are also very reasonable for this type of restaurant and five-star service.

Located away from downtown area, on Laurier street, this restaurant is worth trying for a fine Thai cuisine and to discover another part of Montreal. The menu is very diversified and all dishes can be ordered without spices. All ingredients are fresh, perfectly cooked and their mix burst in different flavours in the mouth. Quality has a price and you... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
