So the title of this is a little hyperbolic. But the point is: great food, service, and coffee. Love the minimalist decor. Would not have hesitated to go there every day if I lived in MTL.

The dedication to coffee is evident when you walk in the door. Coffee brewed by various methods is available. Our flat whites were the best coffees we have had in Canada so far. $4 plus tax a hit is not cheap but worth it. Staff when we visited was friendly and skilled in coffee art. For non coffee drinkers, speciality... More

Le Couteau is incredible and stands our among cafés in the Plateau for a few reasons: 1. There's LOTS of space to sit! So many cafés have a couple stools or benches, Couteau has tons of tables and seats and doesn't feel crowded even when there's lots of people there 2. Friendly staff. Can't stress this enough. Lots of cafés... More

Le Couteau is a wonderful place. It’s spacious, full of light and the coffee is wonderful. The cakes are pretty awesome too. Like many of the places I visited in Montréal, the focus is firmly on the coffee, with little else to distract you, although there is tea and hot chocolate for those of that persuasion. At first glance, the... More

Super clean, very friendly, totally bilingual cafe. Wanted to stay there all day. Patio outside great place to people watch and catch your breath. Staff love to talk coffee and teas too. They love to educate their visitors. They occassionally do workshops on all things coffee with tastings. I love trying their different filter coffees but to treat myself I... More

fun, hip cafe with great coffee and delicious treats. the cafe has long tables and benches in most of the room. People are good about sharing the space and you can get a spot even when crowded. Staff is very knowledgeable about coffees and teas and keeping separate tongs for gluten-free treats. LOVED the delicious gluten-free brownie from Almond Butterfly!... More

I am absolutely LOVING these independent cafés opening throughout Montreal, and le Couteau is no exception. The decor is amazing: lots of natural light, bright white walls and a big open space, lovingly decorated with warm wooden benches and tables. There is a communal feel to the place as the seats and tables are not only close together, but there... More
