My favorite sushi so far, but avoid on weekends

Out of all the sushi places that I have tried in Montreal, the sushi here tops them all (so far!). The rolls here are HUGE, simple (and not Americanized.. thank god), and the rice is always perfectly cooked. You can easily get super full after only eating 11-12 pieces of sushi, and they have a... read more

have been coming to Furusato for many years now, I go there pretty regularly since I'm always craving for good Japanese food. This little hidden gem serves authentic Japanese cuisine, it's homey, cozy and my favorite sushi restaurant. They always serve fresh sashimi/sushi, and their hot meals such as tempura udon, oyakodon, unagi don and katsudon are among my favorite... More

Best Japanese restaurant that i've been to on east coast Canada. What makes Furusato stand out are their impeccable service and traditional japanese food that makes you feel like home. The owner is also really humble and his skills in making sushis always amaze me. Your montreal experience won't be complete without trying out this awesome restaurant.

I was taken here by friends who live in Montreal.. promising me excellent authentic Japanese food and I was unbelievably impressed. What an amazing meal, we started with some tempura, light and delicious, then an assorted sashimi plate which was so good we ordered the same again! The staff and owners were incredibly courteous, the service excellent. The restaurant is... More

Wonderful restaurant. Service was excellent. What makes Furusato stand out so much is the menu, which has traditionnal japanese dishes that are hard to find in Montreal.

this place has been a favorite of mine for years now. the food is incredibly good and very authentic (which is why it tastes different and better than most other sushi i ever had). the hot cooked dishes are as good as the sushi and i recommend trying a variety of things from the menu. the service can be slow,... The reviews for Bistro Furusato are generally gushing and extravagant. But I don't get it. This place is waaaaay below average. In fact, it is probably the poorest sushi restaurant I have yet ate at in Montreal. I went with my son and his girlfriend. The best dish we had was a sizzling beef platter, which was quite tasty if... More

This place was highly recommended by "sushi experts", and the sushi did not disappoint. Busy on a Saturday night and reservations are needed. Small staff that slowed things down a bit, but the food was worth it.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
