La Menthe Poivrée is a neighbourhood restaurant with unpretentious bistro style, a reliable menu and a good wine list. It's cosy and can get a bit noisy. In the summer they also have an outdoor terrace on the sidewalk but considering this is Rosemont st. we chose to eat indoors. I had eaten there before and remembered everything being delicious.... A bit off the beaten path (which means only locals are there). We had excellent lunch with many good choices from a varied menu with very reasonable options to more classic meals that are also reasonable in value. Excellent wine by glass, as well as 1/4 or 1/2 litre options, if a bottle is too much. Well hosted. Looking forward... More

So I have now been there 3 times so I can now give my honest opinion. Good Food, Nice small restaurant, and solid Food .... the menu varies but you are pretty sure that the quality will be OK. The last time I had some meat and it was again ...OK ... I would not say it was memorable but... More

Staying in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Neighborhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
