Excellent coffee and croissants

We stayed in an apartment upstairs and it was lovely to run down to beautifully prepared cafe latte and croissants breakfast sandwiches. Lovely staff and beautiful old building.

On our way to the nearby Musee d'Archeologie d'Historie in Old Montreal, we came across this tiny café and decided to try it for lunch. It turned out to be an excellent choice, with generous sandwiches, soups, and salads. The service was fast and friendly. The café also offers a nice variety of desserts.

Great tasting and fresh options. Fantastic service and happy staff. Relaxing atmosphere. A bit pricey for ice-cream, but made with all natural ingredients. Nice rest stop on a warm day.

We had a croissant sandwich for lunch it was ok. Coffee was very good though. Service needs to improve. They offer complementary wi-fi.

I have been several times to this little place in old Montreal. The owner makes ice cream in the back room (one can see him in action and discuss with him - he is always keen on explaining how he makes it). For sure, prices are very high (from 4 to 8 dollars for a scoop), but once you have... More

Muki does indeed have excellent ice cream. However, people are really interested in feeling good after their ice cream and in not feeling ripped off. The prices could be a bit lower so that the experience is excellent!

While walking towards the river in Old Montreal, I saw the Xavier Artisan Cafe so I stopped in for brunch. I had a grilled chicken and avocado and a coffee for brunch, which was quite good. I couldn't resist having some of the hazelnut ice cream after sampling some of the flavours. It was excellent:) A cute little cafe with... More

Our attention was drawn to Xavier Artisan cafe initially. And it wasn't until we entered we found it was a joint venture with Muki ice cream. The cafe is all home cooked cakes and goods.they also make their own bread. The ambience was very pleasant. Teas, coffee and home made lemonade available. The lemonade was very nice. Sampled the very... More

I go to LOTS of ice cream stores, and this product was good. Creamy, great texture, and wonderful flavor. The help is awesome, patient, and glad to help and strike up a conversation. The building is even cool. The setting can't be beat; along the waterfront, allowing us to walk the street, take in an open air market, and explore. Many... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
