Authentic Mexican food in the heart of Montreal's Village. The mole chicken was sensational with just a bit of spicy hotness.

My cousin and I visited Chipotle et Jalapeño on a rainy Thursday evening May 22. My cousin has toured the world as a guide and has eaten Springbok in South Africa and Piri Piri in Portugal, and I am a classically trained chef. We came to Montreal to visit each other and enjoy the food. This restaurant however was far... More

I used to go to Jalapeño et Chipotle only to buy groceries however a couple of friends recommended me the food. I've tried the tortilla soup, the melted cheese with chorizo and they both were very good. This morning I tired the tamales (mole and green salsa) and the sopes (chicken and pork) and boy were they good, specially the... More

Interesting selection of dishes and nicely prepared but many other considerations. We ate here on a Saturday night and took about 20 minutes to find parking. If you can't get to the restaurant by metro or walking, I don't believe it's worth the effort. The guests were all seated in the lower level which has no atmosphere whatsoever. Even some... More

One of my classics, I always get the "chilaquiles verdes" brunch. Comes with a small fruit salad, juice, more-than-decent filter coffee, very honest value for the price. Always served with a smile by the waiter/owner. Highly recommended if you've had enough of the typical brunch!

This is a small cafe & restaurant in the Village district. The staff at the time only spoke French (which should be expected in Quebec). I had the lunch special which was a tortilla soup and a chicken stew with rice and hot homade French bread. It was not spicy and flavorful. The staff were very nice and did their... More

If you want a sunday brunch out of the ordinary, it is a good place to go to. The service is ok, but the food is good. No need for a cappuccino or a caffe latte, the filter coffee is good. Would definitely return!

Frankly, adfter reading some of the reviews I wasn't expecting much from this restaurant so I was pleasantly surprised. And I've been to Mexico many times so I have experienced the real deal.(This is also why I haven't been to many Mexican restaurants in Montreal) The tortillas and guacamole were fine (not fantastic - my simple home recipe is better)... Absolutely the worst restaurant in the city! I'm serious. I eat out almost all the time and I can assure you, the food and the service here was atrocious. Firstly, they micro-wave almost everything. My wife had a burrito that was cold and inconsistently cooked. The 'chef' was rubbing his nose as he was preparing the food. It was gross.... More

Got the sopes, nothing too crazy. Guacamole was fresh out of Costco, the beans were warmed up, and the tortillas were not tasty. The one bright spot, the service was very good. Montreal is good for that.
