Great Smoked Meat

If your in Montreal you must go to Dunn's for a Smoked Meat Sandwich, fries and the best gravy I've ever had. Prices great, staff were excellent with service and the food hot. Make sure you get the medium for the best flavor.

A colleague said we had to eat here because they've been around for so long. Everyone in our group ordered the smoked meat sandwich and a Rickard's Red beer on tap. The beer was wonderful. Very smooth. The smoked meat was the most tender brisket I have ever eaten. I plan to go back before I leave town.

This is the best Reuban I've ever had, and even at $20 with poutine and a dill, it was money well spent. The smoked meat was so good....more meat than I could even hope for, and served with sauerkraut on perfect pumpernickel bread.

You cannot go to Montreal and not have a taste of Smoked Meat. The ambiance is unique inside of Dunn's, much like a diner atmosphere which makes it fun. Food is hot, fresh and served quickly. They have a smoked meat pocket appetizer...Yummy!!

Dunn's has become a standard. Ben's is closed (beware of unions). Schwartz's is a little it off the beaten track for non-locals. If all you want is Montreal Smoked Meat this is more than acceptable. Schwartz's is still the absolute standard.

Received recommendation to go here. Glad we went, the smoked meat was excellent. The flavor was right on and the meat melted in your mouth. The smoked meat poutine was great and the house red wine was very good. Our server gave good suggestions. This is the best smoked meat sandwich I had while in Montreal and I had several.

I was so happy to finally have a REAL MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT place on the corner. Well that did not last long.. They have closed that location last fall and there is still a note in the window that they will re-open in the spring. The front sign is not there anymore as this winter I could see staff emptying... We were taken here by our hosts. We all wanted to try Montreal cuisine, but do it in a casual way. We (10 of us) were seated at a tall table and we sat on stools. The Montreal specialty is "smoked meat", a cross between lean pastrami and corned beef; it can be sliced or shredded. I had Poutine with... More

This was an excellent recommedation from our hotel concierge. We stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed - we went back 2 times!! We were a party of 6 and were lucky enough to sit in the big booth at the front window. Dunns has a great atmosphere and is decorated just like it was when it first opened.... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
