Some of the best food I've ever had; great asparagus salad and lobster

I happened upon this place just wandering around the neighborhood near the Palais des Congres, where I had just finished a 5-day meeting. It was packed, both with French and English speakers and then I happened to notice that it was Zagat and Trip-Advisor rated, but that was an afterthought in... read more

I like consistency. The first time we ate here it was just perfect and our food was wonderful. We then returned with friends and had a truly mediocre meal. I might be willing to give it another chance, but at these prices, it needs to be great ALL THE TIME.

Our hotel, W, recommended we try Kitchen Galerie Poisson when we asked for a local mid-priced restaurant. I had the sting ray and my business partner had the scallops. It was the best fish I have ever had. They politely translated the menu to us since it was in French. A great local restaurant. A must see in Montreal.

This restaurant located in Old Montreal is one of my favorite place for lunch or diner. Food is extremely well prepared, fish and oysters of top quality and the staff is always courteous, mindful of your needs. Do not fret... Steak is incredible also! Whenever I have the chance Kitchen Galerie Poisson located in Old Montreal is the perfect place... More

We went back to Kitchen Galerie Poisson on Notre Dame W. in Montreal this week and, although the service is still very good, the food is suffering from the loss of their chef (who went back to France, it seems). The salad was as fresh as we have had but the fish seemed almost to have been made in advance... More

Having been at the kitchen Galerie, My expectations were high coming the KGP .... Well leave it to Mathieu Cloutier and his team to exceed these expectations. For appetizers we had Oysters, Calamaris and their signature appetizers the "Foie Gras cooked in a dish washing machine". Very good, Very good and Oh Yeah ..... From there we went to the... More

Spent several days in Montreal and looked for a good seafood restaurant This restaurant called KGP by the locals had great fish and really great oysters. That night they had six different oysters from all over c\Canada and an assortment of very fresh fish. Dishes are very fresh and not overly complicated. Very French but the staff was helpful with... We were a party of eight people on a Friday night and had a very good meal. The service at KGP is excellent, and even though we were there at the end of the day, we never felt rushed or that they wanted us out. The staff was also very knowledgeable about the menu and the dishes, and helped me... More

I have been going to KGP for 3 years now and it's been consistently making me happy. On the blackboard, the fish, oysters and wines by the glass of the day are listed. Only fresh fish and seafood are served. The place is small with around 40 seats, the kitchen is open, well organised, the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The... More

We stopped in for appetizers and desserts and were very impressed. I had the goat cheese and asparagus salad which was out of this world. My husband and the crab cake which was delicious. The wait staff could not have been nicer. A very nice stop in Old Montreal.

Staying in Quartier International

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier International
Designed to connect and beautify unused space, today the Quartier International is like a transversal piece of modern art. The distinctive design flair is most apparent at its focal point, the Palais des Congres, a convention center and retail space with a multi-colored glass exterior and an equally bold interior motif. Outdoors too, the Quartier is friendly towards public art exhibits along its stylish, plotted city squares, with extra-wide sidewalks meant to encourage long strolls and shaded benches available for absorbing the atmosphere. Fresh air and promenades characterize the area, from the foliage of Victoria Square to the fountain of Place Jean-Paul Riopelle, while the restaurants along Rue Saint-Antonie Ouest and Metro stops modeled in the Parisian style give off European glamour.
