Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

Vibrant lunch spot and good food

Taverne is the right word - place is long and full, can be quite loud at lunch time especially. But FUN. Great food (chicken salad is amazing - if you don't like dill let them know because some people think there is too much in the salad!) and of course they do old fashioned rough-cut fries. Old... read more

Get a nice wine cup with your friends by night (before 12:00 am) with a good cheese platter... Get a table away from the bar and enjoy the company...

What a great find this restaurant was! My wife and I found this restaurant near the hotel - Le St. Martin Particuleur hotel - during a recent trip to Montreal. Great ambience and full of character. Friendly staff. Now about the food: fantastic! The sticky toffee cake is to die for. A must!

I really like the ambiance of the Taverne, especially sitting at the bar at night. The food is good and service very professional

Me and my girlfriend went after a Habs game and ordered the scotch egg, the beef and the toffee. It was all delicious; great service and over the top cosmopolitan.

Great atmospheres, beautiful bar. I had great service at the bar. Watched custom cocktails created with care. Had braised beef. Was good but not as legendary as reviews made it out. (Maybe they built it up to much for me) Great classy gastro pub. Would totally come back to try out the rest of the menu

Visited here as part of a mid-size group over the weekend and have left the experience very impressed. They handled the booking perfectly, rang a few hours before to confirm we were still going ahead, the numbers involved (which had actually changed and they had no problem accommodating), etc The meal itself was fantastic. My partner and I had the... More

Dominion was not very far from where we were staying and we decided to stop in for an afternoon drink. The Gin Fizz is one of their specialties and I would highly recommend it, if that is your type of thing. We had a few appetizers and really enjoyed ourselves. Would like to make it back here for dinner.

Celebrated a rather quiet St Patrick's day at the Taverne Dominion - montrealers I'm told hold off until parade day 22nd to celebrate. Introduced to a wonderful gin- uncle Val's. From Sonoma CA. Now, Dominion can get busy - I merely stopped by for a few drinks après dinner. Highly recommend stopping by here for dinner. From what I see,... More

Overall the ambiance and the service makes this an amazing place. The waiters were very attentive and professional and helped us with minute details (I cannot say enough about the staff). As for food though I came away disappointed. I ordered the chicken caesar salad. The salad was disappointing and the chicken dry - overall it was overpriced. However the... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
