Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

Excellent food, great bar, high energy

I've been to Dominion Square Tavern several times. The food is very good upscale pub food, with a bit of French flavour to go with the traditional English pub feel. The "Sunday roast" dinner special (roast beef with all the trimmings) is great, and huge. The bar menu is excellent; lots of good... read more

Who is eating in a place usually tells more than the menu out front. Wonderful atmosphere, great service, delicious food-- the combination made for a scrumptious lunch! This is a repeat if ever I am in Montreal again.

A great place to start an evening or go on a date simply because the atmosphere is different, energetic and fun. The decor and menu match an old world theme and it makes the place feel memorable. Add to that you can enjoy a Sazerac over your usual cocktail or better yet the Grande Absinthe if your after a more... More

This restaurant is an excellent effort! Franco-British gastropub fare in a high energy, loud but genuinely pleasant and charming environment with attentive servers and creative cocktails. Drinks, Appetizers and Deserts were the standouts. Mains hovered just around "good but uninspired" whereas the starters, cocktails and sweets were all very good and potentially excellent was a little more attention paid to... More

We dined here on a Tuesday night before a show at the Bell Center. It was busy but we were seated right away. It is a small pub style place and the tables are close together. The service was good and so was the food. They have some interesting yet tasty cocktails. I had the bangers and mash and ate... More

This is located around the block from the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and next to Square Dorchester. There are a few tables outside with a great view of the Square. The main dishes are around $26 - $35 CAN. I ordered the Bangers and Mash and it was fantastic and went great with a glass of a Langer Amber beer. The... More

Every time I came here to have dinner during a business stay in Montreal, I had a first class dining experience. High quality of ingredients, wonderful presentation and great taste. Would definitely recommend!

This place has real charm, tasty drinks, delicious food, and great service! My husband and I walked inside and immediately said to each other "what a cool place". Our service at the bar was excellent, and relaxing. Our food was fantastic! The next time we are in Montreal, this place is definitely on our list to come back again!

We were excited to try this place but left disappointed. We waited a while to be asked what we wanted to drink which was the first bad sign. Our waiter then disappeared after delivering our drinks. Eventually, we were able to flag him down to order our meals and he seemed kind of surprised. Strange. Anyway, the food was pretty... More

I just loved this bistro/restaurant. It had great character and ambience, food & cocktail menus were quirky and the service was without fault. A must for visitors and locals alike. Even the WC made me smile!

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
